This was so disappointing. He was so great during our initial meeting, and the packet of ideas to provide a specially-tailored wedding ceremony for us was PHENOMENAL. I mean, we were able to put together a special, somewhat traditional ceremony that incorporated our children and included sentimental readings and I was just thrilled at all of the inspirational readings, thoughts and suggestions that Father Rob gave us. I was so excited to have such a creative and caring officiant.
Unfortunately, all of my good thoughts went out the window once the rehearsal occurred. He asked the two readers to come up to the front during rehearsal and asked them to start reading and when my cousin started reading she said "I'm trying not to cry" and as she continued reading, Father Rob cut her off saying "We know you know how to read" and told her she didn't need to read the entire reading. My sister-in-law went to do her reading and she could have used the practice but after seeing that Father Rob didn't want them to read the whole reading, she wasn't able to get her practice. Because Father Rob was so laid-back during rehearsal and didn't go over the readings, our vows, or basically anything of substance, I assumed this meant he was confident and well-prepared. Unfortunately I didn't realize I was wrong until after my wedding ceremony the following day.
During the ceremony, his microphone was turned off the entire time, so nobody except the first two rows probably heard our ceremony. He even asked my husband during the ceremony if it was turned on - the DJ even had a sign to him saying "YOUR MIC IS ON MUTE" so he could know to turn it on, but he didn't. He stumbled his words various times through the ceremony and laughed at his mistakes. The worst was his delivery of our vows - we had long vows and I thought we would have a tablet to read our vows off of to each other but instead, Father Rob fed us our lines only TWO WORDS at a time and we sounded retarded reciting our lines. Surely we could have been fed more words at a time. His shoddy delivery of our vows really took away from the sentimental meaning of them. It was kind of embarrassing to have such a bumbling officiant during our wedding - obviously what matters most is that we got married and that's what counts, but for $500 for essentially one or two hours of work from Father Rob, we certainly expected a little more than we received. Let's just hope he at least mailed our marriage license in time so that we're legally married.
