Rainbow Lodge

We had our wedding weekend at Rainbow Lodge and couldn't be happier with our choice! The lodge itself is amazing-- guests can stay onsite, it's historic and tastefully decorated, feels private but still with easy access to the Tahoe area, the perfect spot to gather friends and family for the weekend and have access to hiking, swimming, and generally beautiful surroundings. All the staff for Rainbow Lodge were fantastic. Emily was great to work with, her and her team are flexible and accommodating and executed everything super smoothly. Emily and Spencer also provide catering through the lodge, which was absolutely delicious! The whole team during the wedding weekend was super friendly and great-- shoutout especially to the bartenders, who brought the most fun vibes! We had the most fun weekend and a big part of that was having such an amazing venue! Highly, highly recommend!
The only thing we were a little bummed about was the price of the rooms for guests staying onsite-- they advertise a reasonable range, but when we actually got the room prices after booking, the majority of them are at the highest price (or within only $10 of it), despite having different sized beds and bathroom amenities, unless the room has a shared bathroom. We were hoping to offer our guests more of a range of prices to choose from.

We got married here in September 2024 and got to reserve the whole place for our family and friends. We opted to have all of our wedding events on site to maximize the time with everyone. This venue, while expensive, will wow your guests and provide a unique experience where they can connect all weekend long. Emily is very organized, a clear & direct communicator, and made sure that our event was a success. The staff are amazing too and provided a lot of help during the weekend with serving, bartending, and moving tabes & chairs. Our families were able to relax and many said that it was the best wedding they’ve ever attended.

Emily + Spencer are absolutely top-notch to work with! Being a type A wedding planner they were on top of communication, sent easy-to-understand proposals/costs, and were on top of details on the wedding weekend. They are kind and know what they are doing. It was so nice that I can put absolute trust in their craft. They definitely delivered for my couple!

The Rainbow Lodge is a perfect intimate wedding venue that allows family and friends to stay the weekend and truly immerse themselves into your wedding experience.

My couple loved the elevated summer camp feel of the lodge and truly enjoyed their time spent there.

I would love to work at the Rainbow Lodge again as I had such a great experience during the planning process and throughout the weekend!

My husband and I recently got married at the Rainbow Lodge. It was the first (and only) venue we visited, and we could not be happier with our decision. All of our guests enjoyed what the Lodge and the surroundings had to offer. It really is a special place at a beautiful location.

The Site Managers, Emily and Spencer, were an absolute dream to work with! They were very accomodating to all our requests - before, during, and after our weekend.

We were married here on August 24 2019! Please ignore any 1 Star reviews about the lodge being closed. It is open but for special events only. When you book the lodge your group has the entire place for your private event. Our wedding weekend was for 2 nights and we filled all of the rooms in the lodge. Our wedding weekend was incredible and memorable for us and all of our guests. Yvonne and Rolf are your Hosts/contacts/caretakers for the lodge and they are very responsive/competent/hospitable and flexible. I work in the travel industry and communicate with accommodations/tour operators/high service level operations all over the world all the time and I can say that the Rainbow lodge communications and services are excellent. Over the 2 nights we had separate soundsystems for entertainment, catering services, a band, DJs, and the Great Bingo Revival.(FYI, we used Music In Tahoe for all of this and they are incredible) The lodge worked well with all of our vendors and made our planning easier. The lodge actually includes quite a bit of things you need for your wedding like tables, chairs, etc so plan to review with Yvonne and Rolf so that you are not renting things you don't need. They have a fantastic commercial kitchen on site, as well as an awesome bar with keg taps, etc. All of our guests loved staying at the lodge and we felt that having a full wedding weekend really brought everyone together more than a 5 hour standard wedding + Reception can. The lodge rooms are nice but being historic many of them are somewhat different from eachother. We allocated the rooms to our guests accordingly and everyone enjoyed their stay. For our local friends their is also the Hampshire rocks campground which is a quick bike away. The lodge has a lot of nice common areas and they have done a lot with the landscaping as well. Our photos(Chris Werner Photography, Incredible) turned out excellent and their are a lot of areas in/around/near the lodge to take nice photos. We feel very fortunate to have had our wedding at the Rainbow lodge, so contact them and set up a time to check the place out!

I am still absolutely glowing from my wedding weekend at the Rainbow Lodge this past weekend!!!

First, there's so much I can say about how wonderful Yvonne and Rolf, the caretakers of the lodge are. They are incredibly professional, clear with communication, and knowledgeable about how to make your weekend the best it can be - and they were such a calming presence over my wedding weekend. My entire family sings their praises, and is actually in this moment trying to adopt them into ours because they were so wonderful!!

The lodge itself is wonderful, and bespoke with the most special details and radiates all the history of it's time in Soda Springs. My guests were so excited to stay there and enjoy all the amenities the lodge had to offer. As the lodge is 150 years old, there's history around every corner and unique touches all over the place! Guests enjoyed the sitting rooms, took a polar plunge in the river, took hikes all over Soda Springs and escaped to Truckee for dinner! The lawn for the ceremony was absolutely magical - it barely needed decoration and I cannot wait to see my pictures!

As a bride who didn't have a wedding coordinator - with Yvonne, Rolf, and the Lodge in my back pocket everything was flawless!

A few tips for those thinking about the lodge:
- Be communicative - Yvonne and Rolf are so responsive, and can easily answer questions you might have about the area, lodge details, catering, etc
- Let your guests know there are stairs (age, elevation, ability all might impact where you place folks)
- Let your guests know that the lodge is 150 years old - probably best to leave the gadgets at home and enjoy the lodge for the weekend!
- The lodge is fully stocked with activities and games for all ages - but we also supplemented with additional items for the kids area and game room, and I probably could have brought less!
- Make sure to have a head count for meals - we were at the lodge from Thurs-Sun, and no one wanted to leave so Yvonne and Rolf helped us navigate the best way to set up our food options (my sister is an amazing chef/coordinator!)

If I could give the lodge 10 stars I would - they made my wedding dreams come true and I cannot thank Yvonne and Rolf enough!!

The Rainbow Lodge is rustic but amazingly beautiful, private and nicely renovated. It is perfect for a destination wedding weekend where the whole family can gather and relax in a private setting. Lake Tahoe is nearby and there is lots of hiking and breathtaking views. The lodge offers a perfect setting for the wedding ceremony and reception. Guests can stay on site in one of 30 guests rooms. The property managers are very helpful. All our guests had an amazing time!
