Built upon a beautiful, Historic 87 acre working horse farm, this stunning location centers around a beautiful white 'Hand-Hewn Swing-Beam’ barn that originally dates back to 1850. This unique, fully climate controlled, one of a kind structure, along with the beautiful natural surroundings, provides couples with an unforgettable place to celebrate their once-in-a-lifetime occasion.

Facilities and Capacity

Spread across 87 acres of rolling hills and two beautiful ponds, this beautiful premises can comfortably accommodate celebrations of up to 200 guests. It offers an array of ceremony sites, breathtaking photo locations and a fully aircondoitioned reception space for couples which has been beautifully designed for comfort and convenience. The main reception hall is lined with wooden farm tables, cross back wood chairs and features 32-foot floor-to-ceiling windows for celebrations full of natural light. A Bridal Suite and unique Groomsmen loft are also provided for couples and their parties to prepare for their big day in peace and privacy.

Services Offered

Protea is proud to offer two different wedding packages to their couples to ensure the wedding planning experience is exactly what every couple wishes for. The "Day-Of" wedding package includes all of Protea's amenities, while the wedding couple gets to plan their own wedding and book their own vendors as they wish. Courtney and Bev, both Certified Wedding Coordinators, not only coordinate your wedding day, but serve as your coordinator/wedding planner one month prior to the couples day to help finalize the wedding details such as the day-of timeline, ceremony rehearsal, table and chair layout, and so much more to ensure your day runs perfect and that nothing has been missed.

Protea's "All-Inclusive" wedding package is the perfect fit for those busy couples who need that extra help to get their wedding planned exactly as they imagine from start to finish. The "All-Inclusive" wedding package is currently based on 150 guests and includes the following vendors of your choice from Protea's finely tuned preferred vendors list: Photographer, Videographer, DJ, Dinner, Florals, Hair and Makeup, Decor, Set-up and Break-down, Cake, Wedding Officiant, Dinnerware, Full-time wedding planner and Bartenders. This unique package can be completely customized to fit each couples needs.

History

Swing-beam barns are exceedingly rare, and Protea is delighted to be the only one in the state of Florida. These distinct structures were originally designed by farmers to provide a clear span in the center of the barn for the space needed for an ox or horse to thresh out the grain on the floor. The threshed grain would then be tossed up into the loft held up by the Swing-Beam for the wheat to then dry. This particular structure was originally constructed in Canada in the mid 19th century and features its original hand-hewn structure. It was transferred by semi to Joe and Courtney’s farm and re-erected to its original state using nothing but wooden mallets and wooden pegs, with the purpose of hosting a one of a kind experience for all couples to enjoy.
