From start to finish Play Play was incredible to collaborate with! Responsive, intuitive, kind, flexible, and went above and beyond. Ahead of the wedding they scouted the venue, communicated directly with the wedding coordinator and came up with creative solutions. They created a custom personal playlist that kept everyone dancing from all generations. They perfectly balanced what we wanted to hear and navigated requests from the crowd. Play Play was super easy to work with and a highlight of the wedding. We hope to work with them again!

We are so happy with DJ Play Play and how well our wedding went. Right from the first meeting we knew we were in good hands as Jess was super warm and friendly making us feel very relaxed and confident that things were going to go well. Jess was extremely patient as we rolled our song requests in at the last minute. The atmosphere that Jess created during the dancing portion was awesome as the floor was never empty. Super impressive and I couldn't give a stronger recommendation.

When we decided to get married in Durham, Jess was our immediate first choice for DJ. The best and easiest decision we made the whole wedding planning whirlwind was hiring Jess. Jess was accommodating and flexible leading up to the day, especially when things were looking dicey with covid. We loved discussing music selections with Jess, and completely trusted Jess' judgement. And on the wedding day, the music was absolutely fantastic. We danced for hours, and got so many rave reviews from guests about how much fun they had. 100/10, would highly recommend!

I’d recommend Jess a million times over. Our venue had multiple locations on-sight, from ceremony, to dinner to dancing that required her to move her equipment seamlessly through. Her knowledge of her industry shined through on our first meeting when she was discussing mics and reverb and who needed lavalieres, etc. I knew I was not going to have to worry.
We knew we wanted a DJ with knowledge of the equipment, a large repertoire of music of course and didn’t need to be the center of attention by screaming out to the crowd but rather kept it all running behind the scenes. Zero regrets in choosing PlayPlay.

Jess was absolutely amazing as a wedding DJ. A pleasure to work with, professional and approachable, knowledgeable about all types of music, and threw a KILLER DANCE PARTY at our reception!! Jess navigated the fine line perfectly between honoring our requests and playing what the crowd loved. Our dance floor was full the entire night. Jess's music was so much fun - if I could do it all over I would pick Jess as our DJ every time. The way all the songs blended together there was never a dull moment, and it is easy to tell how musically talented Jess is, which makes for a noticeably smoother and more enjoyable night of dancing. I loved every moment!

Jess also ran sound at our ceremony and did a flawless job of mic-ing our officiant and ceremony band so that everyone could hear them.

Jess DJed our wedding in June 2016, and did a fantastic job. We highly recommend hiring them, especially if you want a departure from the traditional wedding DJ (no Kool and the Gang at our wedding!). Because Jess knows music really well, they are able to take suggestions and curate playlists around that taste. Our friends loved the music they chose. Our older relatives were also grateful that the music wasn't too loud, so they could continue to enjoy conversation.

Jess is awesome; met with us beforehand and was in communication with us and our other vendors to make everything come together. Highly recommend.

Jess was exactly what we wanted in a DJ. We had a google hangout prior to the wedding and discussed our likes and dislikes, and our vision for the wedding. Jess did a fantastic job incorporating some songs that we wanted but also responding the crowd and amping it up when the moment was right. The dance party was just what we wanted--it got everyone on the floor at the beginning and kept everybody moving until the end of the night. We would hire Jess again in a heartbeat.

After living in NYC for years, my partner and I moved to Durham, North Carolina, where we eventually decided to get married. In NYC, music was always an important part of our relationship, and we attended all kinds of concerts. Additionally, I'm Puerto Rican and my wife is from Kentucky, so in bringing together our friends for a great party, we were going to need to combine all kinds of music and dance styles. A couple of months before our wedding, we had landed our photographer, who then recommended PlayPlay (Jess) as a great fit for us. Jess met us at a local hangout where they would be spinning some chill, dreamy tunes from all decades. Let's just say that as a music geek, PlayPlay's encyclopedic knowledge is a big plus. But what really won us over was the concept of reading the room and making sure people are actually vibing with the music and getting up to dance. So, we gave Jess an overview of how we saw our wedding reception going in terms of rhythm, from a laidback cocktail hour all the way to a late night party with heavier beats. The plan included different music genres for each part of the evening, as well as must-have songs (and a no-play list), but other than that, we were confident and happy about letting PlayPlay play! When we look back at our wedding night, a lot of the memories seared in my mind come from the music and the dancing. We definitely felt honored to have had our party hosted by the hippest DJ in town. Jess honored our requests, was attentive and got to know us, and then surpassed our expectations!

Jess DJ'd our whole wedding, including ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing. Full of pro tips, Jess helped us figure out setup logistics and transition timing. Jess provided all the necessary equipment, including lighting to set the mood for our Twin Peaks-themed first dance. We provided a few dance song ideas to show the general vibe we were looking for. PlayPlay peppered in other gems to expand on that, while finding a perfect mix of generational songs to get everyone on the dance floor. PlayPlay made our party pop!
