Pastor David Sweet is a wedding officiant based near Austin, Texas who has performed hundreds of weddings at over 60 different wedding venues (plus private residences) all over Central Texas, as far away as a radius of 100 miles from Austin Texas. Pastor David has served as a pastor and Associate pastor for more than 30 years. He is currently a full-time pastor: ordained and licensed.
He has had many very satisfied couples. Many who have attended ceremonies he conducted say that the message he brings is meaningful, even moving, for them. His forte is a traditional Christian ceremony, but he is open to modifications and changes depending on the couple's religious background or preferences. You are free to add elements, readings, or other additions.
Since most weddings are outdoors, Pastor David knows how to keep the ceremony brief, uplifting, and with a touch of humor throughout to lighten the celebration.
Pastor David arrives early at the site of the ceremony to speak to the coordinator and check on key details and go over the 'hand-off' of the bride. He gets paid only on the day of the wedding. His charge includes unlimited texts, calls, emails, or visits to help plan the ceremony and get to know the couple. He also offers limited pre-marital counseling at $40 per session upon request.
David is extremely qualified and holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Texas in Austin, a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Doctorate of Ministry from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

I wasn’t really happy with the officiants that were originally provided to me based off of countless negative reviews & I know everyone’s experiences are different, but this was an important day so consistency is key. Scrolling across Wedding Wire I came across Pastor David Sweet. Honestly his name sounded adorable & intrigued me, but also he had a ton of positive reviews to back it up.
Pastor Sweet was so prompt at reaching out after I asked about availability & pricing. He is extremely communicative which I very much appreciate since that keeps me from being anxious. Not to bore anyone with the details, but our civil ceremony was lack luster & our officiant was very dry, this time around we knew it had to be perfection. Pastor Sweet started our ceremony with a prayer, a few different scriptures, then allowed us to read out aloud our vows to each other. Everything flowed so naturally, you can tell he genuinely loves what he does.
From the constant communication & to making sure everything was scheduled accordingly, he made me feel such at ease. The ceremony was beautiful, everything went so smoothly & that had everything to do with all my amazing vendors including Pastor Sweet. Pastor Sweet was truly an added blessing to an already perfect day. I can’t thank him enough for taking the time to officiate our heavenly ceremony.
A Beautiful Ceremony When It Mattered Most
I reached out to Pastor David just two weeks before our new date, and thankfully he was available and very reasonably priced despite the short timeline. He was compassionate, responsive, and accommodating throughout the process.
The ceremony itself was beautiful. We requested a non-religious, vaguely Christian approach, and Pastor David struck the perfect balance—focusing on love and commitment without being overly preachy. It felt personal, heartfelt, and exactly what we wanted.
We will always be thankful for the role Pastor David played in making this meaningful moment possible for our family. We highly recommend him to any couple looking for a thoughtful and flexible officiant.
