I was over 2 months in to my dress search and getting frustrated with the big bridal shops. My mother in law suggested I check out Nan's boutique in Petaluma. I was worried that the price would be out of my budget, because the shop is darling and has beautiful vintage and unique designs. I was going for a classic hollywood look and something simple and comfortable without all of the corsetting, petticoats and lace that come on oh so many typical wedding dresses. I also didn't want a strapless dress which siginficantly shrunk my selection at most of the shops or I had to use my imagination to picture an added piece of satin on my shoulders that may or may not add any support...I was thrilled to finally find exactly what I was looking for for only $700! The dress is a Selena ivory satin sheath with a cowel neck front and back and gathering across the mid-section toward covered buttons on the left side. It is so elegant and flattering and very well made. I absolutely attribute my success to Nan hand picking the designs that she chooses to buy for her shop from the shows she attends herself. She is also a wonderful help while you are shopping in her boutique, making you feel special while also providing honest feedback and helping you find just the right look. I also bought earrings there to wear on my wedding day that were a very delicate gold hood with gold webbing and tiny pearls weaved in. She has a lot of really lovely jewelry made by local designers.
