Now as I look back at the wedding all I can say is Thank God we had Paul from Morning Glory Florist. I don't know that there is enough space to explain everything he did and how amazingly good he was at it. First we had a cocktail party the evening before the wedding, since most of the guests were from out of town and did not know each other, at the Zen Den at the Intercontinental Milwaukee and he did all of our floral arrangements. Very chic, very modern very fitting for the atmosphere. They were stunning, even the coordinator from the hotel wanted to know who had done the work. I, on the other hand was a bit concerned since my daughter's choice for her bouquets were sage, rosemary, very non traditional, very rustic. I had nothing to worry about. It was almost as if two different people had done the work. Her flowers the, gentlemen's flowers were impeccable. I could not find one thing with the flowers that I did not like. Her bouquet was exactly what she wanted . With she and her maids standing all together it was as if you were in an herb garden. She and I both teared up just a little when we saw them.
After he met us at The Basicillla of St. Josephat and put on every gentlemens flower, made sure that the flower girls were ready, made sure the roses for the dedication were properly handled, then he went to work on the bridesmaids and bride, basically every flower that he brought, he handled himself. He made sure that everything was right. He then drove over to The Coast restaurant to place the arrangement on the top of the cake, which he had done to match her bouquet, when he got there he found out all hell had broken loose, the coordinator I hired (long distance) talked herself and her crew into a wedding that they did not have the skills for. Again, Thank God Paul was there. I briefly remembered just from conversation that Paul had also been a coordinator (as had I). He walked in saw the disaster and rolled up his tuxedo sleeves and went to work.
The coordinator did not notice that the cakes were the incorrect size when she picked them up, so instead of being able to stack the cakes the coordinator paniced and had no clue what to do. Paul quietly stepped in and arranged the cake on the table while using a large quantity of the flowers he intended for use on the guest tables. All the time working with a group of overwhelmed and overstressed women, more graciously known as my coordinating staff. In fact the restaurant manager from the coast, came over and complimented to us on the job that Paul had done.
In the end, in was stunning, no one but those involved had a clue that anything had gone wrong. How he managed to make those few flowers work on tables for 130 quests, sit down champagne brunch, men in morning coats, waltzing with her father outside beneath the stars, well he saved the day. Had Paul not been there it would have gone to trying to throw together whatever we could. I mean this as someone who did special event and wedding coordination before, Paul knows how to make things come out the way you want them, even if there is a glitch.
Paul is the only florist I've ever dealt with that talks to you using the botanical names of flowers not because he wants to impress you but because that's how he knows them. But he is wonderful at explaining every flower. Of all my verdors he is the only one I would ever use again.
So many people commented on how beautiful the tables were and absolutely everyone commented on how beautiful the cake table was, no one had ever seen anything like it..could be because no one ever planned it. It was just the beautiful creation of Paul Laws.
