Great space for a wedding reception!

The Missouri History Museum was a truly special and beautiful wedding reception venue. We were nervous about using a space that was not made to be a reception venue, but Jailan was extremely helpful and friendly throughout the process and knew exactly how to transform the space for our purposes. Being able to open the exhibits for our guests was extra special and something that everyone really enjoyed. The space itself is beautiful and has incredible indoor and outdoor spaces to hang out in outside the "Grand Hall"--it is bigger than you think. Would recommend it to anyone.

Just a heads up--we booked both the grand hall and the cafe because we thought we might have more than 250 guests. We ended up having almost exactly that many guests, and that fit the space perfectly--any more, though, and it might not have been as ideal.

Stunning location for our reception

The Grand Hall was the perfect place for our wedding reception. Becca was amazing to work with- so attentive, helpful, flexible with our postponement and just so kind. Our reception was perfect and went so smoothly. Couldn't have asked for a better location and service

Five stars is not adequate to describe the service and quality of food at my daughter's reception! We selected the Contemporary Beef Wellington and our guests loved it! The steak was so tender you could cut it with a fork and it melted in your mouth! Many guests commented that they have attended a lot of weddings over the years and Butler's Pantry food was the best they ever tasted! One guest said that his father-in-law is a caterer and cooked all the food at his wedding and that this dinner was even better! My brother-in-law is a professional musician and has performed at hundreds of weddings and banquets over the years. He said that this was the best meal he has ever tasted! It was even better than weddings with $100,000+ budgets! We were impressed when we did our tasting and menu selection and proud to serve such a wonderful meal to our guests. This was fine dining, not banquet food. The wait staff was very attentive, without making guests feel uncomfortable. Our out-of-town guests were so impressed with the gorgeous venue. Overall, it was a perfect reception!!!

Beautiful, stunning, classy, fabulous...all words that describe this amazing venue! We used it for our reception and would recommend it to anyone! They will even leave exhibits open for guests during cocktail hour.

My daughter had her wedding and reception at the Missouri History Museum, and we couldn't have been more pleased with the venue! Bridget and Samantha from Butler's Pantry were very helpful with the planning along the way, and it was a gorgeous evening. All of our guests are still talking about it!

Don't get me wrong ... this venue is gorgeous! It really makes for a beautiful reception area and the guests LOVED it. But the in-house staff that handles the catering are just not good to work with. I know one of them is very new, but it's no excuse for the level of service you receive leading up to an event that is so important to you. They aren't quick with answers or confirmation, they offered little to no suggestions on help to structure or organize the event, and they don't provide detailed documentation leading up the wedding. You are on your own.

The night of the event, neither of the catering managers came up to check in with me or my parents to see how things were going ... The other staff serving on site was great, but the two main catering managers were really no where to be found after cocktail hour! I'm not even sure if one of them was there or not! But I saw one of the managers (my main contact) leave about 1.5 hours prior to the reception being over. She didn't come to check in or say goodbye, I just ran into her in the hallway as she was on her way out the door.

The result of this is that there was no one around to help fix lighting issues, make sure the buffet was moving quickly, etc. Later on, I was mortified when I discovered groom's family was served dinner last (even though I had told them what table they were seated at, etc., and they knew that the mother of the groom was supposed to be dancing with her son immediately after dinner.) I know it seems like small things, but believe me, you need someone helping you think through those small things that night! Or at least checking to make sure things are running smoothly.
