Matt is an extremely talented photographer - he captured the vintage, whimsical vibe of our wedding theme perfectly. He has an amazing eye - many of our shots are bursting with the raw excitement and emotion of that exact second - it takes me right back to the big day and I smile every time. Matt was by far the best hire that we made out of all our vendors. He really took the time to get to know us, our bridal party, and making us comfortable in front of his camera. We’re so happy that he has such a light-hearted nature, an attention to detail, and a willingness to go above and beyond the norm. When all the other vendors had finished and left, Matt was still standing right beside us. I chose Matt originally because I loved his style of photography; it was candid, natural, and his attention to lighting and angles had the touch that I was looking for. I was extremely selective because I myself work in the creative field and work with photographers all the time. Matt really delivered–he shot all our events, including our engagement photos, our civil marriage, and the big ceremony, 3 separate events in total. By the end of it all he felt like he was part of our family, and when we got the photos they are absolutely stunning. Matt is really able to capture the magic of the moment; the laughs and tears during those few seconds of intense emotion, the look in peoples eyes, the dance faces when the dance floor is let loose–he's so adept to finding all those little gems during the day that no one else may notice, and that is one of the many reasons why he was our hire. I'm so happy that we were able to be so fortunate to find the perfect fit for a photographer, I know that we will be cherishing all the photos he took for years to come.

Long story short (because brevity is not my strong suit): Matt was one of our absolute favorite vendors to work with. He went above and beyond his call of duty before, during and after our wedding day to deliver a wedding film we were blown away by (and he was seriously just a pleasure to hang with for 10 hours on the happiest day of our lives). I can’t recommend him highly enough.

The extended cut: We were drawn to Matt's work because (1) the cinematography is stunning — he truly has an exceptional eye for detail, beauty and emotion and (2) his wedding films told a story. We didn’t want a cheesy music video — we really wanted the emotion and action and little-moments-we-hadn’t-even-realized-happened captured. His videos tell the story of the couple and the wedding beautifully.

When we met with Matt, we were sold. He’s incredibly chill, authentic and just has an all-around good vibe. We knew we loved his work, but we also wanted to choose someone we’d enjoy spending our whole wedding day with; Matt fit the bill and then some.

On our wedding day, he brought his good vibes and keen eye — and other than that was totally non-obstrusive. I had two photographers plus Matt and his second shooter, so I was a bit worried I’d feel their presence — but I truly forgot we were being followed around the whole day/night.

The wedding film he delivered completely surpassed our expectations. All of the beauty, emotion, smiles, tears and laughs — he captured it all and weaved it together with such character and ease. I can’t imagine NOT having this documentation of our wedding day, and I know we will watch it whenever we need a little pick me up (or just a casual happy cry).

Matt was absolutely amazing to work with for our wedding! I researched ALOT of videographers and got numerous quotes before I stumbled upon Matt's video from a prior wedding at our venue. As soon as I saw it I knew I had to book him! His price was about middle of the road for the quotes I was getting but the quality of his work was just above and beyond. Then the day of the wedding he got all of the special moments I wanted and stayed longer than we had planned! He was so professional but made all of our videos so personal to us, hence I cried watching every single one! One of the best decisions I made for our wedding was hiring Matt!!!

We are so incredibly happy with the photos Matt took at our wedding. He captured so many incredible moments, we hardly knew he was there because he was such an unobtrusive fly on the wall! It seems like he was everywhere at once to catch all the important moments. His photos are dynamic, with beautiful composition and use of color. I was amazed he was able to make those taken on the dark and sweaty dance floor look vibrant and full of light. Matt is also incredibly kind and easy to work with. I would recommend him to any couple looking for candid, beautiful, shots to remember their most important day.

Part One:
Matt was extremely professional and at the same time he was very fun to be around. We could clearly see his creativity and artistic eye at work throughout the day. It's clear that Matt genuinely cares about his clients and his work. He certainly went above and beyond for us! We haven't seen the final product yet, but given his outstanding effort and commitment on our wedding day that far exceeded our expectations, we anticipate nothing less than brilliance.

Part Two:
When we first hired Matt as our videographer, he warned us that it would be a few months after the wedding before we received our film. Of course we were anxious to watch it immediately, but we did our best to wait patiently while he worked his magic. And let us tell you – the final product was well worth the wait! Matt completely exceeded our expectations. Overall, we can tell that Matt put in a tremendous amount of time and effort, meticulously working through every detail until it was perfect. His artistic use of transitions and coordination with the music shows Matt’s wonderful talent. Our film truly captured all the emotions of our special day and brought us back to Costa Rica instantly. The film elicited such deep emotions that left us both in simultaneous tears and laughter. There was a particular moment where Matt captured a tear running down Rachel’s cheek when dancing with her father and it’s one of those moments that we could never experience again with still photography. Not only did Matt capture our emotions and experiences, he seemed to capture moments from almost every guest at our wedding. Our film is something we will treasure forever and watch over and over again. Hiring a videographer for our wedding was a last minute decision and we can’t overstate how happy we are to have hired Matt. We feel we would have missed out on so many things that couldn’t be captured in photos. If you are looking for a videographer Matt should be your first choice!

Matt Agan's video was absolutely incredible...better than any wedding video I've ever seen. We debated as to whether or not we needed a wedding video, and I'm so glad we did it and found Matt! It is by far my favorite memento from our day and I know my family will enjoy watching it throughout the years. Thanks Matt!

Matt chatted with us on the phone twice, met with us in person to talk about our style and a plan for the photos, and he checked out the venue and environs in person ahead of the wedding. This meant the day of the wedding we felt more relaxed around him and he took us to some great spots around the venue that we hadn't even noticed.
He was punctual, polite, and great with our guests - ages 5 to 85! We loved our photos - very few were posed and those were the best. We couldn't believe how many photos he got and from so many directions, given he was working alone and our wedding was large (about 170 people). He caught our friends and family in so many great moments throughout the ceremony, cocktails, and reception. He was a pleasure to work with! And he sent us our final photos very quickly - posting a selection on his website and sending us all the photos in hi res and low res by e-mail. Super fast and easy to share with family.

Hiring Matt to shoot my wedding video in Costa Rica turned out to be one of the best decisions that I made all year (right after choosing the groom and the dress:-). Matt showed up right on time the day of the wedding and jumped head first into the madness without skipping a beat. He made everyone feel extremely comfortable and he captured special moments that I had completely forgotten about until I watched the video. Everything is filmed in a way that makes it look beautiful and artsy yet unpretentious and natural. My friend put it best when she said "it's like your own little indie film!" It's not just a wedding video, it makes you FEEL the way that you did on that day every time that you watch it!
Just before the ceremony it started to pour (in true Costa Rica fashion). Matt braved the rain and got attacked by ants to get a great shot of my favorite animal, the sloth, swinging by the pool to say congrats.
Because of the rain delay it was too dark to get any couples shots after the wedding. Matt agreed to meet up with us two mornings later to shoot some extra video AND photos. The photos that Matt took are breathtaking, I've never looked so beautiful. My husband and I are not exactly what you would call "photogenic" and (between my food poisoning and his hangover) making us look good that morning was not an easy task. Matt made us both feel completely at ease, made us look amazing and gave us direction whenever we started to get awkward. He went for every shot--to the point that he was bleeding, soaking wet and covered in spider webs by the time we were done. He is passionate about his work and really gets excited when he gets a great shot and it definitely shows in his photos and video.
If you're thinking about hiring him DO IT, you can be confident that he's going to do a great job and you will have beautiful images of that day forever :-).

Matt was such a joy to work with. My husband and I chose Matt to be our photographer because he stated that he does not like to shoot "posy" photos. We are about as awkward as it gets in front of a camera, so we definitely wanted photos that were more natural. Matt made us feel completely comfortable from the very beginning and we quickly forgot the camera was even there. He was more than willing to help with more than just photography. He didn't even hesitate to take his shoes off and get wet to capture the perfect sunset shots on the beach. We appreciated his dedication and enjoyed the excitement he showed while shooting our elopement. We are so pleased we got to work with Matt and could not be more excited about the way our photos turned out.
