Norman Russell Jr and Cambria Russell is the couple behind Light Hawaii. Norman, aka Junior, stumbled into event lighting after a long career of being a fishing boat captain. Cambria became pregnant with their first child and they desired a career that would keep them on dry land. Junior was given an opportunity to help out as a light tech at a big concert and nailed it, an absolute natural. Other AV companies took notice and gave him work. After attending trainings and gaining experience, they decided to head off on their own and Light Hawaii was born.
"Fair and honest is how we begin every relationship. We begin with over preparing when the vision is created, then aim for perfection, and always have a back-up plan. That's just the way we work and the only way we know how.
Lighting is what we do; it's our speciality and our passion. That's why we invested in the best equipment. The difference between Light Hawaii and other companies is that we are full-service; meaning we prefer a site visit to get your opinion and share our expertise, then take every need into consideration, design and develop a plan, carefully set-up and rig the equipment, oversee the lights during the event, and break it down once the last guest leaves. Our gear, rigging techniques, and design skills is what sets us apart from the rest. We offer DMX control of wireless lights if you want to change the vibe of the wedding, take it from an intimate dinner to a rocking dance party. Even if you don't hire us to control during the reception, we are always in the vicinity in case an unforeseen situation arises.
We know that lighting usually isn't the first thing that pops into the bride and groom's heads when planning their wedding, but it is one of the most important. You spend a lot of time creating the perfect wedding and it's crucial that you can see it. We are here to help you understand where and what kind of lighting you may need. Nobody wants Grandma to trip over a tree root. Your guests want to see the delicious food the caterer prepared. The cake needs to shine. The best man probably doesn't want a spot light, but he'll get it."
We hope to light up your wedding. Mahalo,
Norman and Cambria Russell
