Laney Margolis, Humanist Celebrant

Laney was an amazing officiant for our wedding day! My partner is nonbinary and we are both not religious so we were looking for someone that was inclusive and affirming of both of us and Laney absolutely hit that mark. She was extremely professional and wrote an incredible speech about both of us after getting to know us through our meeting and questionnaire. We also hired her to do a few premartial counseling sessions which were extremely helpful in identifying some areas to discuss that we will definitely use moving forward in our marriage. Those sessions also helped us get to know each other so that on the wedding day she was another familiar face. I really appreciated that she has a clinical psychology background (as I'm a therapist myself) because I think it really helped her understand us and facilitate both counseling and our wedding. I would absolutely recommend her for any engaged couple!

We found Laney pretty quickly after getting engaged, knowing that we were interested in a secular officiant for our wedding ceremony. Our initial meeting went so well we decided to hire her immediately. She was responsive throughout the whole process and understood exactly what we were looking for. We are really happy with how our ceremony turned out. It was very beautiful. She even stayed beyond her allotted time for the rehearsal because she could tell that I was too flustered to pay attention on the first go round! Everything went very well and I got many comments from guests on how beautiful our ceremony was!

We couldn't be happier with our decision to choose Laney as our wedding officiant. Laney's approach is extremely collaborative; from understanding our needs and allowing us to work together to craft the perfect wedding narrative, all with a story-based, humanist approach. We had so many guests afterwards tell us that the ceremony was their favorite event of the evening, and so much of that is a direct reflection of the care Laney took to make sure we had the best possible wedding day. My partner and I loved having Laney Margolis as our wedding officiant! The two of us are so appreciative of her dedication and thoughtful attention to our big day, and in particular to helping us design our non-religious wedding ceremony. Through a couple of pre-event meetings and a questionnaire about our story as a couple, Laney carefully collected information about our relationship that made it feel like we had known her for much longer than we actually had. She used these details to craft a beautiful script for the ceremony, dedicating time to describing what we each loved about the other and our vision for married life together, and providing a set of vows that felt meaningful and true to us (we were not interested in writing personal vows). We had several family members tell us how special and profound the ceremony was, and we couldn't agree more!

Laney was also very helpful with the non-romantic elements of getting legally married, reminding us about the deadlines for applying for a marriage license and purchasing a certificate, and making sure our witnesses signed on the line immediately after the ceremony ended. She also took care of mailing in the signed license for us so we had one fewer thing on our to-do list after the wedding. Laney is a warm, organized professional with a talent for her work as an officiant, and we would wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone.

We are so happy that we went with Laney as our officiant for our wedding! After just our initial meeting with her, we knew her approach to the ceremony and just who she is as a person would totally jive with us as a couple. She wrote a beautiful ceremony that included elements of our story, elements that she created, and traditions that were important to us. The ceremony was simple but meaningful and we just loved it! We are so thankful to Laney for her responsiveness, organization, calm demeanor, and perfect words for our ceremony.

Laney was incredible! We loved our ceremony. She created a thoughtful individualized script for us, and was so helpful with organizing all our family.  She was very experienced, professional, and easy to communicate with. Her speaking voice is excellent. She was able to weave different cultural traditions into a ceremony that felt like us.

We really had no idea how to approach our wedding ceremony and Laney expertly shepherded us through this process. She helped us create an experience that was incredibly meaningful for us, along with our friends and families. She made it easy on the days leading up to the wedding and on the day of the ceremony, and definitely exceeded our expectations.

As a local Wedding Planner I have worked with Laney for years. She is always kind, patient, and responsive to the couples as they plan their ceremony as well as the other vendors working on the wedding day. I enjoy her services so much that when it was time for me to get married myself, I had her officiate my ceremony and it was absolutely perfect! I highly recommend her!!
