About
THE FIRST EVENT I ever planned was my parent’s SURPRISE 17TH wedding anniversary… I was age 9. In true “Sarah” fashion, I planned, designed, and executed an anniversary party for over 100 guests. I oversaw all the arrangements for the invitations, food & beverage, musical entertainment, and of course, CAKE! It was in that very moment, that my dream became a small fire in my heart… Maybe I didn’t fully know who I wanted to be when I grew up. But I was certain that I didn’t need to be ‘the guest of honor’ or ‘the life of the party’. My happiness would derive from being the woman within the party, experiencing from the inside/out, yet my eyes always watching intently from the outside/in. My hands craved to hold the strings, to control all the details, to make it come together, to bring it all to LIFE. That is where I have always naturally excelled…
The road to realizing my dream started soon after. I began home school to devote more time to additional pursuits. I simultaneously worked toward my high school diploma and college education. It wasn’t until I began studying Special Events Management at Monterey Peninsula College that my fire was fully lit. I became a Floral Assistant to an industry professional for the next 2 years. I knew there was much I could learn, and continued to seek out every opportunity to involve myself in the Industry. My strong work ethic afforded me unique opportunities that ultimately earned me my stripes – I observed seasoned disc jockey’s and the in’s and outs of event rentals from my professional internships. I was both delighted and privileged to experience the grunting work of event setup and breakdown at some of the most coveted venues in California. My insatiable thirst for knowledge and experience led me to find a program well suited for my needs – California State University East Bay’s Wedding & Event Program in 2010. The program provided a wealth of information pertaining to the Industry, and trends. It also equipped all students with the needed tools to succeed.
Upon completion of the course at CSUEB, I was offered me an internship at a highly regarded Wedding and Event agency! I happily accepted. I learned invaluable experience and lessons through my work, and built solid relationships with each client based on open communication, and unwavering trust. My main goal was, and continues to be: Commitment to excellence. Much can be attributed to the training received through each internship opportunity I had, but also too, my dream job as an Associate Planner for 3 years. I’m eternally grateful for each of my experiences that have been an integral part to advancing my proficiency in active listening, time-management, and goal-attainment. It was through the endless emails, hard work, and observing the rules/parameters of “business is business” and “love is love” coupled with the enlightening fact that in this industry, the two go hand in hand… that my dream was not just a dream but became my PASSION.
It is an immensely rewarding privilege to be entrusted with the planning of a couple’s wedding celebration. I would be happy to embark on YOUR journey… to plan alongside you, to stand behind you, guide you through the process and to arrive on that day as a friend and witness to the most meaningful commitment two people can make – your wedding.
