Writing this review gives me a REALITY CHECK! because I just want to keep reliving this planning era! When we began searching for venues, we knew instantly that @Kukua Punta Cana was THE one. It was truly a dream come true!!
From the start, our vision was to create a joyful, unforgettable celebration with our loved ones, something unique that also honored my beautiful country and cultura as a proud Dominicana. Our wedding day couldn’t have been more perfect. To this day, our guests can’t stop talking about how amazing everything was!
PLANNER UNIQUELY RACHEL 1000/10

Rachel is my forever HOMEGIRL! Seriously, Kukua is beyond lucky to have her and so are we. She was our voice of reason throughout the entire process. My original vision started off “cutesy,” but when I found my true dream vision, Rachel embraced it wholeheartedly and ran with us every step of the way. Her organization, patience, and creativity made planning a destination wedding feel effortless.
VENUE – KUKUA: 1500/10

The venue was absolute perfection! The weather blessed us with a sunny, beautiful (and hot!) day. As with any big event, there were tiny hiccups, but none of it took away from our magical day.
The design and décor were breathtaking, truly a masterpiece. We wanted a “caterpillar-style” setup so all our guests could stay connected and mingle, plus a unique napkin for every place setting. I thought these details would be tough to pull off, but Mayte and her team nailed it. We wanted a colorful palette with colors coordinating the decor on each table, with unique florals and candles matching the vibe.
During our tasting, Mayte surprised us with design elements that brought our vision to life so beautifully. On the wedding day, she even brought me downstairs to check final details because she genuinely wanted to ensure I was beyond happy. Every member of the Kukua team went above and beyond to make sure our guests were cared for and that service remained exceptional all night long.
PHOTO & VIDEO – PHOTO CINE ART 13,000/10

When it came to photography and video, we wanted to tell a story. Milan and his team absolutely delivered! He was like a ninja all day haha! capturing moments from every angle without us even realizing it. The video team coordinated seamlessly with him to create stunning footage.
His wife, Nata, was phenomenal with communication and organization. She even attempted to arrange for us to meet Milan before the big day, though we were able to because we had guest arriving for those days. The final results were everything we dreamed of and more.
CONTENT CREATORS – @MAID OF CONTENT 10/10

We wanted to capture all the small, candid moments, the little details that make memories last a lifetime. Abigail and her team did exactly that. They were so discreet throughout the day, yet somehow managed to capture everything perfectly. All the content was available within 24 hours and she posted on my insta/facebook live for the day. She even made us a wedding folder in my insta bio and stored all our stories there 😊
HAIR & MAKEUP – OLGA MONTILLA (BRIDES BY MONTILLA): 10/10

Olga is a gem! I sent her inspiration photos beforehand, and even when I made last-minute changes on the day of, she adapted flawlessly. My makeup looked incredible and it still held up after our big pool jump!
She was so patient and kind, even accommodating three additional girls just a week and a half before the wedding. My husband also booked a barber (Ronald) through Olga, and he loved his haircut, which says a lot because he’s very particular about his hair.
TRAVEL AGENT – OUR DESTINATION WEDDINGS: 10/10

Carol and Carolisa were wonderful to work with! They were always responsive, detail-oriented, and patient with all our questions (and our guests). When we ran into a resort issue on arrival day, Carol immediately took our call and helped resolve it right away. Their professionalism made travel coordination for nearly 50 guests a breeze.
STAY – PARADISUS PALMA REAL: 8/10

The resort was the perfect size for us and our guests to explore. We had some hiccups with an upgrade request at check-in, but once that was resolved, we absolutely loved our stay.
The grounds were beautiful, the concierge was excellent, and the staff made coordination smooth for our 48 guests. It wasn’t overly crowded, which made the experience even better. We also enjoyed the spa and water therapy experience next door after the wedding, a perfect way to unwind.
CRAZY HOUR: 1000X/10

Worth every single penny! This was one of the highlights of the night. Everyone got up and danced, it was such a joyful celebration of our cultura. The dancers kept us front and center for photos and videos, and the energy was just unreal.
DJ: 8/10

We provided a Spotify playlist ahead of time, though I’m not sure it was fully used outside of our key songs, but the overall vibe was great. The DJ played a lot of Spanish hits that kept the dance floor full. I appreciated that he checked in before playing certain songs (especially the ones that required some serious twerking 😂). Once we gave the go-ahead, the party really took off!
MC & OFFICIANT – ALEJANDRO: 10/10

Alejandro was fantastic! He officiated our ceremony and served as MC for the night, switching seamlessly between English and Spanish. His humor and charm helped calm our nerves and kept everyone engaged. We couldn’t have asked for a better officiant, truly a highlight of the night!
Our wedding at Kukua Punta Cana was everything we dreamed of and more. Every vendor went above and beyond to make our day unforgettable. If you’re considering a destination wedding, trust the team... I PROMISE YOU, you’ll be in the best hands.

Ok... I know what you're thinking. Am I really about to book a place in a foreign country that you've never seen before. YES, YES YOU ARE. Please just do me a favor and trust all of the reviews like I did. The place is so much more dreamy than even pictures do it justice online. The staff is INCREDIBLE. Rachel, the wedding planner/coordinator is just the most amazing human. She is there for you the entire year before you wedding - planning, questions, and literally anything you can think of that you may need. She will talk you off a ledge or out of doing something silly or outlandish. Her services are included in your wedding process FYI, so you're not shelling out an absurd amount of money don't panic. That is unheard of btw. When you finally come on-site you'll meet Mayte, who is responsible for making the magic come to life the day of, and who you'll meet for your tasting. David is also amazing - he runs your wedding so it's smooth as butter the day of. The owner is also so lovely and... it's a family business which I love. The level of professionalism and responsiveness was above and beyond what I expected. They made what should have been a very stressful year (and day) into an extremely manageable and relatively relaxing experience. All this to say... I had a tropical storm hit on my wedding day. They still did an incredible job in shuffling things around and making it work, while ensuring me that everything was taken care of. The food was amazing. Our tasting felt so special a few days before. The decorations and elaborate nature of our wedding would've easily cost us 100-200k in NY. The best decision we ever made was choosing to have our wedding here. Our guests stayed at Majestic Mirage btw. It wasn't bad, but dreams was our first choice - unfortunately they were all booked up.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Kukua! From the first time I talked to Rachel we knew it was the perfect place for our wedding, but the actual experience exceeded every single expectation.

The staff was truly exceptional—professional, attentive, and so so so kind. They made us feel like our wedding was just as important to them as it was to us. Every detail, from the setup to the flow of the night, was handled seamlessly, which allowed us to just be present and enjoy every moment.

The venue itself is breathtaking. Our guests are still raving about the stunning views, the elegant décor, and how magical the atmosphere felt. It provided the perfect backdrop for both our ceremony and reception romantic, timeless, and unforgettable.

The food and drinks were another highlight. Everything was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. So many of our guests told us it was the best meal they’d ever had at a wedding. The tasting is so much fun as well, you really do try EVERYTHING!

What really stood out, though, was the care and personal touches. The team went above and beyond to make sure everything reflected us as a couple. We felt supported every step of the way, and on the wedding day, we were able to just relax and soak in the joy.

I had my wedding there on June 20th and I truly don’t have enough words to express how incredible it was. From start to finish, it was a literal dream. I’m honestly still emotional that it’s over it was that perfect.
Like many brides planning a destination wedding, I was nervous about the unknowns traveling, trusting vendors I’d never met, shuttling guests off resort… but the second we arrived at Kukua, all of that melted away. The venue is STUNNING. The attention to detail is unmatched. It felt like something out of a movie.

Rachel our planner is a true angel. She kept everything organized stress free, and fun. She helped me stay within budget, gave honest advice (even if it meant telling me I didn’t need 1000 appetizers 😂) and was on top of every single detail. Mayte is a QUEEN full of energy and excitement and made the entire process enjoyable. The food tasting with her was an experience in itself, and let me tell you… the food? INSANE. Best wedding food I’ve ever had, and our guests haven’t stopped raving about it.

From the bridal suite (thank GOD for the AC lol) to the fireworks, fire show, cigar rollers, popsicle cart, ring bar, 360 booth, and every magical moment in between Kukua delivered. Every vendor was so easy to communicate with and professional. We felt fully taken care of, and every little detail was elevated.

If you’re considering Kukua for your wedding: RUN, don’t walk. It’s everything you could hope for and more. I’ll be shouting “CHOOSE KUKUA!!!” from the rooftops every time I see someone deciding between a resort and off-site venue.

OMG I don't even know where to begin with how incredible our wedding day at Kukua was. It was hands down the best day of our lives. From the first meeting with Rachel to refine our quote, to the random additions, decor questions, and emotional support through EVERYTHING! Love you Rachel!!

Trust the process!! When you arrive to your tasting, we were greeted by David who was so warm and kind and gave us a tour of the whole space. It was stunning! Then we got to try all the food, boy are you in for a treat. It was so hard for us to narrow down but was great! We loved the bruschetta, garlic shrimp, fried shrimp and Pineapple chicken skewers.

The MC Alejandro was amazing! He kept us on track and kept the night moving.

The DJ I was worried about the most as we had a family dance with our 3 daughters and we needed music cut and faded at certain times and he delivered PERFECTLY! Don't have a single negative to say about him or honestly anything about the venue.

Last but definitely not least, Mayte, what a gem of a human and TALENTED I must say. I can't believe how beautiful our arch was, the tables, bouquets, I couldn't believe how stunning it all looked.

We opted for the vanilla with dulce de leche cake and WOW it was tasty! My husband immediately before we even took a bite saying the cake is all me because he hates cake, well we did our first bite together and the look on his face. He LOVED it, I still dream about that cake and saved a little bit and stuck it in my freezer for our anniversary!

The bridal suite is perfect in every way.

You will be SO happy to choose Kukua over a resort we 100000% were stoked with our decision when walking around our resort to see 3 wedding receptions going on at once. You won't get the communication, privacy and attention to detail at a resort like you do at Kukua. The complete attention is on you! Our guests say we won the award for the best wedding ever. A jump in the pool with all our dresses on definitely made it memorable and even more fun!

To begin, I want to give a back story of what brought us to 4.11.25.
My husband and I booked our wedding at Dreams Onyx in 2022. We were vacationing there and did a little tour of the wedding experience at a big resort. We loved the resort and were very excited to have our wedding at such a beautiful resort… Flash forward one year in mid-winter of 2023. I began the daunting wedding planning and began to fine-tune the little details of what my mind imagined our wedding to be/look like. When I began this process, I realized quickly that I didn’t have any price comparisons. I began digging deeper and deeper, and finally, after 4+ months, I received the price pamphlet. I was dumbfounded! We're talking about $375 for a table with a tablecloth for the cocktail hour?!?! $500+ for my bouquet?! Quickly, my budget was disappearing, and to have a wedding like I envisioned would have been over $50K. I impulsively called Dreams Onyx and cancelled the wedding without a plan for a backup. I cried for a few days to my husband and then started looking for another private location for the wedding. Immediately upon messaging Kukua, I had my wedding booked and was more mentally prepared in one meeting with Rachel than I was in 1.5 years with Dreams.
So here is my full and final review of my dream come true!
Kukua Venue/Staff (Kukua Punta Cana): I swear nothing will top the beauty of this resort. Every detail is absolutely perfect. Did you know that they freshly paint the aisle every wedding?! The venue is the perfect size to host a small or a very large wedding. My guest count (50 people) fit comfortably for dinner, on the dance floor, and everyone (I mean everyone) said it was the most amazing wedding they had ever attended. The staff at Kukua are welcoming, accommodating, and truly professional. The bartenders were quick, and the drinks were seriously outstanding. The DJ and MC followed my Spotify, and everyone danced and had fun all night long. Every staff member at Kukua made everyone feel welcomed and worked their butts off from the moment I arrived until we left. I couldn’t have had as amazing of an experience without all their hard work and dedication to the craft.
Mayte: This woman deserves the world. She is so unbelievably detailed, professional, and welcoming. I was amazed at how far she would go to make our wedding day so perfect. One moment that will stick with me forever was when I was walking down the aisle. I remember seeing from the corner of my eye Mayte running across the aisle before my husband turned around so she could fluff my dress. She moved so fast I swear she damn near tucked and rolled to get in and out swiftly. I will always have the moment engraved in my heart watching her coach my two little sons on how to stand tall with big smiles and where to walk before walking down the aisle. She is beyond words, and WE are lucky to work with her on the wedding day.
Rachel (Uniquely Rachel): Rachel will always share a special place in my heart. She stepped in when I had already lost hope and revived my dreams. She made us laugh, she made us cry, and she pays such close attention to every detail you can imagine. She is also realistic. You give her a budget, and she will remind you what’s important and what is worth skipping. She is even your cheerleader, clear up to the day of and after. WE are lucky to have her help us make our dreams a reality. Rachel makes it her mission that your wedding is the best day of your life, and her work shows!
Décor: The décor speaks for itself. AMAZING. I had an idea in my mind, and when I would go downstairs from the bridal suite to peek, I would walk back upstairs with tears. The décor was breathtaking. I also feel like I got more than my mind imagined and what my budget could afford. I did bring a few décor pieces, including a welcome sign, a sign for my sons to carry, a wedding guest book, and our favors. But everything else Kukua captured. My colors were green, gold, and black, and the décor matched our moody tropical theme so perfectly!
Food: Let me tell you guys, this is the best meal I have ever had, and I am a foodie! We chose the chicken Caesar salad, mushroom chicken pasta, and filet and lobster dinner. The guests were obsessed! They were taking pictures of the presentation and raving about the food! Our cocktail apps were so good. The staff even saved two of each for my husband and I to enjoy after we took our couple pictures! And the desert was out of this world! Every piece of food from Kukua deserves to be in a magazine; it was that good!
Junior Cruz Photography and Videography (Junior Cruz Weddings): This team went above and beyond for my requests. I came prepared with a list of shots I wanted to get, and they captured everything. I finally just watched my full 1.5-hour wedding video, and I cried all over again like it was the wedding day. They did have us redo a few shots (like the cake cutting and feeding each other), but I’m glad they did because the shots they did get were like a movie! They were so professional and fun to be around! They also did a great job at keeping my husband and I separate until I walked down the aisle. I will recommend them a million times over and over until I’m blue in the face.
Olga Montilla (Olga Montilla Beauty Studio & School): My MUA and hairstylist! She made me feel like a Barbie on my wedding day, and I can honestly say I don’t think I’ve ever looked more beautiful. I shared pictures, and she executed. My MIL was a little indecisive and decided she wasn’t a fan of the hairstyle she had chosen for herself, and Olga immediately changed it and made her feel beautiful, too. Also to add, she is a wonder woman, and we bonded on motherhood and entrepreneurship. As a single mother to 3 boys, she deserves praise for creating an empire of making women feel beautiful.
Violinist: I was a little skeptical of adding a violinist. I deeply wanted to have that romantic sound during my ceremony, but wasn’t sure how it would turn out. To my surprise, she was incredible. Every song sounded so incredible. She was a star during the wedding, and many of my guests commented on how she was the best violinist they had ever heard play.
Hora Loca Team: They are worth it. My dance floor was empty after our first dance. They came out and for the rest of the night, the dance floor was full. Everyone danced. Everyone commented on how cool of an experience it was to have them come dance. They included all my children, too. Watching my 3-year-old try to mimic their moves and they danced with him and helped him made my mom heart burst!
Additional details:
We stayed at Dreams Onyx and honestly, it was a great resort for our entire party. The food was great, our butler was attentive, and our guests had the time of their lives.
We came in under our budget. I know weddings can be a huge expense and we managed to have this wedding without breaking our bank.
We ordered the small LED fans from Chauna and they were a huge hit! Everyone said how useful they were and used them all night to help cool themselves off!
The palapa was breezy and the men loved getting ready there! It’s also such a great distance from where I was that there wasn’t a chance that the groom would see me beforehand.
The meet and greet that took place 2 days before the wedding day left me in awe. I was sitting at the table with my husband, sipping on our drinks, and I started to CRY!!! When he asked me what was wrong I simply replied “This place and this experience is a dream come true and I am so thankful we chose Kukua!”
I know this was long but I am happy to share any additional details with you all. Ultimately, you’ve made the best decision choosing Kukua and I am confident your wedding will also be as special as you can imagine.

After experiencing slow response times from hotels, and talking to former brides about additional costs in order not to have a cookie cut wedding, I stumbled across this venue. What a BLESSING!! The Kukua Team is amazing, and the wedding coordinators/decorator were included at no extra cost. We were able to have our dream destination wedding all while staying within budget, no gimmicks or hidden fees. The entire process was seamless because they are passionate about what they do and have years of experience creating customized weddings. You won't be disappointed!!

Planning: First I would like to say that planning our wedding was an absolute breeze. I can’t even imagine what it’s like having to plan a wedding in the states after doing it like this. The hardest part of planning was picking out what style decor I wanted. It felt so luxurious sending inspiration pictures and saying “I’d like to do this” and Kukua made it happen. I booked with Kukua a little over a year and a half before my wedding date so I had plenty of meetings and email exchanges with Rachel. Rachel was so easy to work with and very responsive to all my emails. She made the planning process stress free, exciting, and fun! If had the opportunity to do everything all over again, I would do everything all the same.

Venue/Decor: Absolutely breathtaking, Mayte took my inspiration pictures and made them come to life but 10x better. When I first saw our decor the morning of my wedding I couldn’t help but cry because everything was just SO beautiful. Our guests raved about the decor/details and how picture perfect everything was. The staff was also amazing, everyone was so friendly, professional and they made sure we were all taken care of. For having a destination beach wedding everyone was very impressed by how formal everything was which is exactly what we wanted!

Food/Drink: For dinner we did the caesar salad, penne pasta, beef tenderloin and red snapper. For our dessert table we had chocolate mousse, churros, and crème brûlée. We all loved everything, it was delicious. For our drinks we had Sex On The Beach and Something Blue, these were also very tasty! We did have hors d’oeuvres for cocktail hour but we ended up never trying them because we were busy taking photos. The staff did bring us over some plus cocktails while we were taking photos during cocktail hour, but we opted to finish photos rather than take a break to eat but they looked great. Our guests said it was all very good! They always say that food is one of the most memorable parts of a wedding and that is certainly true!

DJ: As a type A person who takes music playlists VERY seriously I created separate Spotify playlists for cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing to give to the DJ. We had no issues with him following the playlists and during the dancing he mixed the music so each song flowed into the next smoothly. We had so much fun dancing, I never stepped off the dance floor all night!

Photography/Videography: Love & Sea Photography! In my opinion, the absolute most important part of planning a wedding is picking the perfect photographer because at the end of the day the only thing you have left to relive the moments of your wedding is through photography/videography. I picked right and the sneak peak pictures attached are proof. When I was searching for a photographer I had a certain aesthetic in mind, I didn’t want a ton of cookie cutter family portraits, I wanted those “in the moment” beautiful photos. I remember when I found Love & Sea Photography on instagram and I knew instantly that I needed to book with Severine. We picked the “Love & Sea Full” package so we could have photography, videography, and drone footage. I have to say having a drone there was pretty cool and the sneak peak photos from it look amazing! I only had a few types of photos I knew I wanted to take and other than that I told Severine I trust her creativity and to just tell us what to do! It’s obviously a little awkward taking photos in front of so many people but Severine and her team did an excellent job making us feel as comfortable as possible. (side note: I can’t believe how many people on the beach completely stopped what they were doing to watch us! Thank god for photoshop!) I’m absolutely in love with the sneak peak photos we have received so far, and I can’t wait to get the rest. I also did flower perseveration with Fleurever Bouquet Preservation which is a business Severine started and I am so excited to see how it comes out!

Makeup/Hair: Olga Montilla! Olga was wonderful, very easy to talk to, and professional. She did my sister, mother, and I’s hair and makeup. I was very nervous having someone else do my hair and makeup due to negative experiences in the past back home so I scheduled a trail day to play it safe. I didn’t even need to show Olga a picture of what I wanted, I just told her “soft bridal glam” and my hair half up half down and she worked her magic. My makeup wore beautifully, we only made a small tweak to the makeup for the day of the wedding (I just wanted my skin more matte). The three of us loved how our hair and makeup came out and we each received so many compliments on it. I honestly can’t believe how beautiful my makeup and hair was, I wish I could have my makeup like that everyday haha. Olga also stayed literally up until the moment I walked down the aisle so that she could touch up my makeup if needed which I really appreciated!

Travel consultant: Passion Getaways Int LLC! My husband and I have been using Anastasiya at Passion Getaways for several years now so it was a no brainer to have all our guests for our wedding book with her as well. Anastasiya makes booking trips so easy and stress free. She helped us with booking our resort, flights, and transfers. We can’t wait to book with her again for our rest trip!

Our wedding took place on 12/5/2024 and we had about 50 of our Friends and Family members attending our special day. We had several complements on how amazing our Kukua wedding was from all of our guests.


Wedding Decor: We went with a Boho themed wedding with Blush, Cream, Green and lots of Pampas! It was everything I could imagine and more. I Showed Rachel the inspiration and that is exactly what I got. I was honestly speechless when I stepped outside and saw the finished project. Any future bride I am telling you right now don’t be stressed it will be exactly or even more than what you envision.


Planner/Staff/ I don’t think I can recommend enough how stress free and productive the whole wedding planning process was. Rachel was by our side every step of the way helping us stay in budget and make our dream wedding come true. The whole staff on the day of were so kind and were always right there if you needed anything. I can tell you my guests LOVED the bartenders lol. I had to switch the schedule up last minute due to me needing to take my dress off so I could breath lol I changed the order and did my first dance and entrance before dinner so I could change into my second dress and relax. I asked Mayte if she could make it happen in the moment and it was switched and resolved within a minute. Rachel and Mayte were so incredible to work with and really made our day so much more special knowing that they were there to take care of everything!


DJ: the DJ was so fabulous! My husband and I made 3 playlists on Spotify: one for cocktail hour which we did for an hour and a half (Highly Recommend), one for Dinner and another for the party. We shared these 3 playlist with him and he did his thing. I highly suggest making those playlists so you know all the songs that are going to be played. He was so attentive the whole time if I gave him a look he knew it was time to switch up the song lol. If any request we had last minute for song choice he was on it.


Food and Drinks: THE FOOD IS SO GOOD! All of our guests keep coming up to us and saying this is the best food they have ever had at a wedding. So if that tells you something you know it’s great. We did the Seabass and Mole chicken it had lots a flavor and did not disappoint. Unfortunately I was unable to eat most of my food so they were so kind to put it in a to-go box for me to take back and eat later that night which I did!!! It was just the little things that meant a lot to me. The cake was very good there was none left over lol the churros were also a big hit as well. For our signature drinks we did custom ones to our beloved Kitty Mochi. We did a Mochi Margarita and a Minou Mojito. The Guest loved it we had a cute sign and all.



Hair and Makeup: I went with Melody Martinez and it was the best decision ever!! I was full glam and felt absolutely beautiful. The Makeup and hair lasted all day and might even after we jumped in the pool at the end my face still looked on point. I can’t recommend her enough!!!! If she lived in the US I would have her do my make up and hair for any big events.



Photography: We went with BOYKO and they were incredible! The quality of our photos and video production were amazing. They helped every step of the way with directions and ways to pose so I could look the best I could be on our wedding day. The staff was so kind and on a mission to make your day memorable forever.


Overall the experience my husband and I had with KUKUA was absolutely Incredible. If I could do it all I again I would do it in a heart beat and not change a single thing!

JAN 2025 Wedding ❤️

Truly my dream wedding!! From planning to execution, everything was so easy with Rachel, Mayte and David. Mayte and David handled everything seamlessly on the day of the wedding and were always checking up on us. Special shout out to Rachel, she is truly the reason we went with KUKUA..she is so fun to plan with, always on top of things and ready to answer any questions, anytime!! Everyone at KUKUA was sooo kind.

Decor: OMG.. my wedding Pinterest board came to life, the details such as the menu cards, centerpieces, flowers, chair draping .. everything was so beautiful and exactly as I wanted it! Rachel and Mayte knew EXACTLY what to do. A big part of why I chose KUKUA was their easy planning process. I knew they would deliver exactly what I wanted with so little stress on our side. I had no doubts that KUKUA would deliver and they exceeded my expectations. I was very picky and wanted very little greenery - they did JUST THAT!!

Food: Insane ..unreal .. everyone was commenting about the delicious food. We got the bavaro menu but switched out the starter for the chicken pasta..best decision. We highly recommend the Paella for your appetizer (everyone was raving about it) and the salmon skewers. The cake was unreal. I wish I could ship it back home! Dulce de leche with vanilla as recommended by many KUKUA brides, it did not disappoint!!

If you're still on the fence about KUKUA...just do it! Coming from a picky bride ..I wouldn't have done it any other way. ❤️
