Jolee and her work had both good points and bad for us. Our engagement shoot was great, as were our photos outside after our ceremony. However, our ceremony and reception were indoors. This is where we had major issues with the photos.
The detail of my dress was totally lost due to an overpowering flash. The majority of the pictures indoors were soft focus or even down right out of focus altogether. She must have used autofocus or needs an eye exam because there is a focal point in the picture, but rarely was it the subject in the foreground. I have 0 usable pictures of my grandfather who was ill and went to his room at the hotel for a nap shortly after dinner. The few that she got were extremely out of focus. The most disappointing part, was that she missed our "Kiss the Bride" moment. It took her by surprise (though I don't know how), and the photo was blurry and not level at all. In our conversations on the phone, I told her the reason her portfolio stuck out from the others in her price range ($1300), was that she never missed that kiss. And then she missed ours. Finally, all of the group shots after the ceremony with the family could not be enlarged without family members being chopped off in the photo.
I did contact Jolee and told her of my disappointment and asked if she could retouch the photos and fix them. She told me to resolve the cropping issue, I should purchase 9x12s instead of 8x10s, as this was the format ratio she shot in. How else would I know this since she did not inform me beforehand? Besides, if I were to do this, I would need to order custom frames. This is unacceptable.
I contacted her in February regarding retouches, after the holidays when I could finally make a list. She had 1000+ images, but the most important moments only had 1 or 2 to select from. I gave her a list of about 50 images to retouch. It's been a year, and I've never received my retouches. She never got to them, and eventually stopped responding to my emails.
