Indian Steps is a beautiful, one of a kind historic gem and Native American museum nestled along the Susquehanna River in Airville, Pennsylvania. It was constructed between 1908-1912, by John Edward Vandersloot. He was an avid collector of Native American artifacts and he studied Native American lore. He picked a very significant place to build his summer cabin, and dedicated it as a permanent display of artifacts he collected and in honor of the Native People’s that came before us. There are indeed “Indian Steps” just south of the property. They are footholds carved into the river cliffs that gave the Susquehannock Indians easy access to the river. They are not viewable anymore unfortunately, after construction of the dam in 1911 buried them deep below the waters. We have a gorgeous, open waterfront property, a large pavilion with several picnic tables, and other unique structures available for reservation at a reasonable price. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Indian Steps was the perfect location for our wedding ceremony. It's absolutely beautiful, with plenty of spots for taking photos afterwards and getting a variety of backgrounds. Very affordable and flexible. I highly recommend them as an outdoor wedding venue.Sent on 09/20/2018

My husband and I were married at Indian Steps on June 6, 2015. The staff was there to help us plan our day and to assist in making it the most beautiful ceremony possible. At Indian Steps not only are you getting top notch planning assistance, you also have the most beautiful photo opportunities imaginable which for me was one of the most important details in our wedding planning.. The grounds are kept immaculate and the natural surroundings make for incredible pictures. After our wedding ceremony we had our reception in the covered picnic area which was also very clean and perfect for hanging decorations. The space allowed plenty of room for food arrangement and seating. Indian Steps was absolutely perfect for our wedding day and the staff made sure we had everything we needed to make it memorable and as stress free as possible.
