Imperial House requires that you use them as the caterer if you have a wedding at the La Jolla Financial Building. The view is incredible but beware the catering service is horrible. They were unprepared, unprofessional, and unreliable. The list of things that went wrong is very long. To name a few, they did not supply any water, ran out of glassware and used solo cups at an elegant wedding, guests witnessed catering staff stealing alcohol, and they forgot the coffee bar so they bought cardboard travelers coffee from Starbucks. Aside from things that did not go as planned, the most disappointing part of working with imperial house was the attitude of the management and complete disregard for customer service.

It took my husband and I one year to find the perfect venue for our wedding and when we stumbled upon the La Jolla Financial Building we were blown away by it's stunning views!

Despite the beauty of the venue we had too many issues Imperial House catering.

We had several walk throughs prior to the wedding day with our Imperial House contact Daniel Collins who was late to one of them by 30 minutes. He was difficult to get answers from. We would have to send multiple emails over several weeks to get a response. When we called he was always very short with us.

His demeanor throughout the whole process was so unprofessional. For example...when we asked to try the flat bread that would be served at the flat bread station his response was "well ya know, pizza always taste the same..." We were shocked to hear this from someone who went to culinary school. This was just one of many similar responses we received from him.

When we came to Imperial House Restaurant for the tasting everything was actually really nice but he gave us food to try that was not built into the original estimate provided. Only weeks after the tasting did he tell us that it would cost more. Had we known prior to the tasting that these items were above the original estimate we would have adjusted our meal to meat our budget. Unfortunately we had to make adjustments after the tasting and were told that another tasting for the new items, that met our estimate, would cost an additional fee.

Furthermore, the day of our tasting he brought out the chef who said to us "I am getting married as well. I wish I had the money to have a wedding like this." It made us feel so uncomfortable.

The day of the wedding (and during walk throughs) Daniel was chain-smoking cigarettes. He smoked in the area of the Patio where food was getting prepared. Smoke was blown onto our guests, some of which have respiratory problems. Guests were disgusted that there was smoke over their food.
