This is the review we did not want to leave.

Our wedding day was booked 9/27/2022 for 5/20/2023. We had our wedding ceremony and reception in the Cambridge Room at the House of Blues in Cleveland. Here is review from our experience starting with the positive.

The pros:

I married my best friend!

The wait staff/bartenders were so kind and wonderful. Every person working from the kitchen to bar was extreme kind and welcoming.

The venue does have a beautiful room and atmosphere for a wedding day and taking photos. You truly do not need to fill the room for decor as it is gorgeous on its own.

All of the food with one exception was remarkable. Our guests continue to rave about the food to us.

The Cambridge room could comfortably accommodate our party of 75 people.

The venue was well within our budget for the location and room it felt like a steal.

The cons:

Our contract was signed in 9/27/2022 for a wedding date of 5/20/2023. On 2/2/2023 our food tasting occurred it was wonderful and very exciting planning for the big day and I had advised Raeann we wanted to add more guests to our guest list. This was something she had advised could be done (this was advised several times via email and verbally). After receiving minimal communication from Raeann to update the contract I checked my emails on 2/22/23 and found that on 2/2/2023 the day of our tasting I had missed an email was sent to me by the coordinator advising/suggesting a date change due to other events that were scheduled after our wedding. Less than 3 months before our wedding day we were being asked to change our date.

Cindi from the venue spoke to my husband and myself several times advised if we could make concessions we could keep the day. She also advised she would ensure our day was special so with that assurance we signed a new contract to accommodate as we had sent out save the dates/had a wedding website up and this information was communicated to our guests, vendors, and employers. I will note the venue did provide a credit for the concessions made.

The day of the wedding;

My husband and his groomsmen were not allowed into the venue at their scheduled arrival time.

I did not walk down the aisle to the song I had chosen. Cindy assured she would be able to press play on my iPad for our wedding playlist (this was in the contract). Cindy asked me as the doors were about to open to walk down the aisle to a different song because she could not get the iPad to work.

When the doors opened my seating chart that was clearly communicated and reviewed with Cindy was incorrect. The entire room was backwards putting the parents of the bride and groom in the back of the room and causing extreme confusion for the procession.

The agreed upon tea light holders/table numbers we provided were not used.

Our recessional music was not played as we walked out.

The food was served prior to prayer. It was communicated at the rehearsal verbally to Cindy my Aunt would be saying grace.

The food was served before I was in the room with no communication to myself or my husband as I was upstairs bustling my dress.

At the tasting the chef has advised he would make Panko breadcrumb mozzarella sticks as an appetizer. Our guests received frozen mozzarella sticks.

My husband had to get our plates of food from the buffet although we were advised we would received plated dinner.

Both my husband and I expressed our concerns to the bridal concierge, Cindy, and Mel the day of several times. Which is not something that most couples want to do on their wedding day.

When I asked the production man any questions I was met with the response “I am not an iPad guy.” Our contract clearly stated music would be played from a playlist on an iPad.

We had to ask several times to have the buffet removed and cake cut.

5 days following our wedding we received an email from Cindi thanking us for having our event and there would be no charge for the valet.

Overall I would not recommend this venue. My husband and I had a beautiful ceremony and made the best of the situation however we would have spent more money and gone elsewhere. The overbooking of the venue and having to resign a contract served as a foreshadowing for our day. We put trust in Cindi and the House of Blues staff and unfortunately we do not feel the event we were sold is what was delivered.

It was clear we were not the priority event. We would have easily spent more to have the day we were promised. My husband and I put a lot of time into the details of this day and it is so unfortunate we have leave a review that is not 5 stars.

Wonderful Venue

Working with Jen Rickey and Melanie at the House of Blues Cleveland was just terrific. The venue is very unique and creates a wonderful wedding atmosphere, especially with live music! We used the stage for our ceremony, the Cambridge Room for our cocktail hour and the concert hall for our reception. Hanging out with the bridal party in the Foundation Room prior to the ceremony was awesome. Everyone loved the food (stations), and being right in the heart of downtown Cleveland was great for our out-of-town guests. Jen and her team handled everything on the day of the wedding, and the entire event went very smoothly. I didn't have a wedding coordinator and didn't feel that I needed one.
