the church is beautiful. the priest was so accommodating and guided us through the whole process.

From Father John Boivin, to the music staff, to the cathedral itself, everything was perfect. My husband, who is not Catholic, felt very comfortable getting married here. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect place to get married!

Amazingly beautiful church. This venue books far in advance (1-2 years). You do not need to be a member of the church to have your ceremony here, even though their website says "parishioners only". You will have to find your own priest though if you're not a parishioner. The ceremony at the church was definitely the highlight of our day.

A beautiful cathedral, if you can have your ceremony there, it will be fantastic. We had Father Mayall, the pastor. He was helpful the whole time leading up to the ceremony. Everyone agreed that he made it special and personal. It was gorgeous and traditional.

This is an absolutely stunning church! I could not be more excited to be married there in 8 months. Although the rules are a bit strict about things like booking date/time and flowers, etc., I think it's worth complying. Also, the workshops have been pretty productive and effective, which I love, because I did think it would be more difficult and not worth the time. Lastly, for being as monumental of a church as it is, the fees have all been reasonable/comparable to other churches in the area that aren't as beautiful! I'm so happy with Holy Name Cathedral!

If you are looking at this church you already know it is absolutely stunning.

We worked with Fr. Boivin and he was very sweet and very responsive but does all communication via phone. No email. Another benefit is he is fluent in French - as all of my in laws are French and speak very little english it was fantastic to have him do the ceremony in half French and half english.He has done many weddings and will make sure yours goes smoothly. No hiccups here!

As can be expected with a Catholic Cathedral wedding, the protocols are strict and there are hurtles to jump to get on the books. Do not expect flexibility - the rules are the rules.

The music they provided was gorgeous, and true professionals. Since the ceremony music was something that was very important to us, we loved the fact that they played what we wanted, and did a beautiful job with it. The only real complaint, though, is that it impossible to get in touch with them. I was never able to actually speak with any of the musicians who would be there that day, there were constant delays in getting back to me, and it made things very difficult trying to put together programs with no help whilst still obeying copyright laws. Part of this is that they are dealing with part-time staff as a non-profit. Like I said, it turned out beautifully, and they can give you suggestions if you aren't set on anything on your own, but it can be difficult to coordinate sometimes with them.

We were lucky enough to snag a date at the most beautiful church in all of Chicago. My grandparents had gotten married here, and since they've both passed away, it was a way for us to have those close to us still present at our wedding by honoring their memory. The responsiveness of this church is sometimes a bit slow but I can only assume it is because of how many weddings they do. We did three marriage seminars before tying the knot here and everyone is very kind to work with. It was a bit of a challenge getting it to work with our schedules.
