Hallie Kohler is a documentary wedding + portrait photographer working out of northern Michigan. She strives to create a comfortable environment where you as the subject can let go of control and allow yourselves to be seen, and also to be very present. To forget about the photos and the camera entirely. Hallie's goal as a photographer is to invisibly witness and capture each moment just as it happens. She will always prioritize people (moments) over aesthetics (you table decor) and promises to fabricate nothing. Bottom line: No posing. Nothing staged. Just you, showing up as yourselves.

Hallie believes that photography is an investment in recorded memories. As a non-traditional wedding photographer, Hallie knows that her couples' weddings don't revolve around posed moments and hundreds of family photos. She believes that each couple should craft their wedding day to fit their own personalities and interests, and she is excited to tell each unique story.

Every wedding Hallie photographs is different -- from an intimate family ceremony in a National Park on a weeknight, a couple exchanging vows at sunset after a strenuous hike, or a backyard bonfire and dancing under the glow of string lights, to an all-out wedding bash in an old whiskey distillery ending with a tunnel of sparklers and an abundance of joy. (There is always an abundance of joy). To be able to work with a wide range of couples, Hallie offers custom wedding pricing.
