Would not recommend as a hairstylist
UPDATE TO REVIEW BASED ON RESPONSE BY BUSINESS OWNER:
The only aspect of your response that was truthful was that I was unsatisfied with your service. It is unoriginal to paint an unsatisfied customer as an overly critical bridezilla. I'm not overly critical as I've had positive experiences with some of my other wedding vendors which I posted positive reviews on other websites (including Yelp) months ago. You failed to deliver a quality service to a client and responded to fair and honest criticism with a series of lies and inconsistencies.
As for your lies and inconsistencies:
1- You claimed that my hair was not unraveling but rather that "a hairpin used to hold your hair in place temporarily before securing your hair with a rolling pin must have fallen out."
This is not true and even if it was, it would still be a rather big mistake on your part. Any person would know the difference between a hairpin falling out with no change occurring and hair unraveling and looking significantly different. I also find it very interesting that you are trying to state that nothing was wrong with my hair while at the same time implying that it was possibly my veil that caused my hair to unravel. Please stick to one story!
2- You claimed that one of my bridesmaids said to you that "she knew there was nothing wrong with your hair but wanted to thank me for coming back anyway."
This is a complete fabrication as it was all three of my bridesmaids who had alerted me to my hair unraveling which led me to call you.
3- You wrote about getting my bridesmaid's hair to look "exactly as pictured."
As I mentioned in my original post, I sent you a photo in advance of my bridesmaid's preferred hairstyle which was barrel curls. You instead flipped her hair not as she requested and you had to be informed to restyle her hair into barrel curls. You informed me in advance that each hairstyle would take around 45 mins, however you ended up spending about 90 minutes styling my bridesmaid's hair due to your incompetence. In addition, your error caused a delay on you starting my hairstyle which led to you having to do my hair the same time as my makeup artist. If styling my hair at the same time with my makeup artist was an issue for you, then you should have communicated that, instead you said nothing.
4- You stated that you "got my hair extensions to look exactly like the bangs in the picture"
I did not have hair extensions in the front of my hair and thus your statement is not true, as I have photos to disprove it. And as I mentioned in my original post, you originally styled my hair incorrectly and I had to show you the inspiration photo again (despite the fact that I sent you the photo in advance) for you to get my hair close to the photo inspiration. My bangs were very simple and you should have been able to easily style them as pictured the first time around.
5- In reference to my hairstyle you mentioned that you "...were glad that it still came out beautiful."
I would call this a highly unsettling statement. As a professional stylist you should be confident in your work and should not leave a client thinking it is possible that your work did not come out anything less than beautiful.
Finally, I would also call into question your judgment and discretion as a professional. During my in-salon appointment, I had expressed some concerns about family and friends who were arriving from out of town (100% of my wedding guests were from out-of-state or out-of-country and a few of my guests had missed their flights.) You decided to take a private moment of an understandably stressful situation and put it on Weddingwire for the public to see. You also exaggerated a misunderstanding between my mother and I and a minor critique of another vendor simply to try and save face. No one should have to deal with such rude and disrespectful conduct from anyone let alone a wedding vendor. Brides beware and stay away!
ORIGINAL REVIEW 8/31/2019
I hired Michelle last month for the services of wedding hair for myself and one of my bridesmaids, also hair and make-up for my mother-in-law. Michelle did not perform the hair and makeup service for my mother-in-law, one of her teammates had performed this service (my review does not reflect hair/makeup service on my mother-in-law).
I had originally asked Michelle to come at 8 am, but she insisted that 10 am would be plenty of time for her and her team. After compromising her arrival time at 9:30 am she ended up having to rush in getting my hair done and we were still delayed on timing which calls into question her time management.
I had requested for Michelle to do an updo hairstyle with bangs in the front for my wedding hair. Michelle was not the most pleasant person to work with, she seemed easily annoyed when I asked her to style my hair exactly as pictured in a photo I gave her ahead of time and showed her before she styled my hair. However, after my feedback she styled my hair as requested which looked good. For my bridesmaid, she initially flipped instead of barrel curled her hair as the photo we showed her suggested. However, after I informed Michelle that her styling wasn't as pictured she corrected the styling on my bridesmaid which turned out well.
A few minutes after Michelle left and my wedding photographers were going to start taking photos, my hairstyle started to unravel. Unbeknownst to me, Michelle used bobby pins to hold up my updo which had several extensions in it. As a seasoned professional Michelle should have known that bobby pins was not a smart choice to hold up an updo hairstyle which had extensions. I called Michelle to return and fix my hair and she was unapologetic, abrasive and did not even offer a discount on her faulty services which wasted 20 minutes of my photography time!!! I would not recommend Michelle to any bride-to-be for wedding hair services. Her lack of care and consideration for me as a bride made an already stressful day even more stressful. Any bride should seek a more professional and courteous stylist.
