About
I'm a singer-songwriter based in Austin, and I play weddings solo. Just me and a guitar.
Most couples book me for the front half of the day: the ceremony, cocktail hour, and dinner. Events usually run one to four hours. A ceremony on its own is about an hour; ceremony through dinner is closer to four. I play roughly 45 minutes on and 15 off, with recorded music covering the gaps so the room never goes quiet.
I bring my own PA and I know how to run it. It's rated for rooms of 200 to 300 people and needs nothing but a standard outlet. If your venue has a house system and an engineer, I'll play through that instead. Either way, sound is not a problem you have to solve.
Worth saying plainly: solo acoustic is not a dance floor. If you want the last two hours of the night to be dancing, you want a band or a DJ. That is better to know before you book than on the night. What I'm good at is the part of the day when people are actually talking to each other - walking down the aisle, the first hour with a drink in hand, dinner.
The practical side: I need about six by eight feet, no stage or riser, power within 25 feet, and cover if we're outdoors and the weather turns. I arrive early. I dress for the event rather than a bar gig. I coordinate with your venue ahead of time, and I handle ceremony cues so nobody is left standing at the altar waiting on music.
Before all this I flew survey planes over Texas, photographing pipelines. In 2021 I took a leap, auditioned for American Idol, and finished in the Top 16 of Season 19, singing with Ben Rector and Sheryl Crow along the way.
I'm Austin-based and travel anywhere. I play across Texas and the South, and I'm booking New England and Cape Cod for summer 2027. Travel outside the Austin area is quoted separately.
Send me your date and venue and I'll come back with a quote.
