I requested a unique and custom Mokume Gane engagement ring for my girlfriend in Nov. - Only a month before I planned to deliver it to her in Dec. They had her records accurate from only one previous meeting that was 10 months prior to commissioning of exactly what she wanted. My request was not typical, and they did not question it. My husband and I found George Sawyer Designs by searching for Makuma Gane style wedding bands. We flew to his studio in Minnesota for a personal consultation where we were personally received by George Sawyer, and had the amazing opportunity to get a private tour of the facility. Since my husband is an engineer and I am an artist (of sorts), we were both absolutely thrilled by the experience to learn how our rings would be made!

Following the tour, we sat down in the "showroom" to see and handle various samples of rings that George and his staff had made, to demo their craftsmanship, creativity, and artistry. We were absolutely astounded - each ring was more amazing than the previous, and the quality of the pieces was unrivaled by an other jeweler that we had encountered.

After three hours (in total), we came to a final design that was uniquely "ours" by pulling the elements of various styles that we liked most into a matching set of bands that would last a lifetime.

Now, more than a year later, we love our rings so much - they are immensely personal, we have a fabulous story to tell friends who "ooh" and "aah" at the style and design, and enjoy knowing that no one else on the planet will have a ring that is exactly like the ones we have.

Both George's concept and design sensibilities were the perfect complement for the execution of our CUSTOM RING DESIGN. This was not a first marriage for both my husband and myself, so the mokume had a deeper meaning for us far beyond it's visually rich surface plane. For us personally, Georges' artistry was a previously unimagined enhancement to our main Celtic design element.
