The Frolic & Detour Deck House sits nestled on the banks of Nagog Pond, (home to George the turtle), with beautiful views of the Nagog Reservoir, in historic Acton, MA. Frolic & Detour is a full service wedding venue ideal for everything from ceremonys and receptions, to rehearsal dinners, wedding showers, bachlor/bachlorette parties, and wedding brunches. With five distinct indoor spaces, and two outdoor spaces overlooking the water, F&D can accomodate both intimate gatherings and celebrations of 300+ people.

F&D is a family-owned business, and when you book an event with us, you and your guests will be treated like family. At F&D, you will have a personal wedding coordinator, and an entire team of experienced event managers to handle every detail of your big day. Chef Eva Zelnick will craft a custom menu of delicious food that will reflect your tastes, and impress and satisfy your guests.

Frolic & Detour's unique charm extends to both its interior and exterior spaces. The unique woodbeam structure of the Deck House's interior, with its high ceilings, doubledecker fireplace, dining, dance, and lounge areas on both floors, and twin, full-service bars, will delight your guests and provide the backdrop for memories of a lifetime.

Our Spaces:

Our Bistro Dining Room is located on the first floor of the Deck House, and can accomodate up to 75 guests. It is a lovely more traditional-style dining space, which opens up to our three-season porch with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the water.

Our Loft encompasses the entire second floor of the Deck House and can accomodate up to 125 for dining and up to 150 for cocktails and dancing. A charming and unique space, the Loft features a huge fireplace at its center, and includes a large full-service bar, and a small lounge area.

Our Cottage is the perfect spot for a bridal suite or an intimate gathering. Tastefully decorated with artwork and antiques, It is located on the second floor of the Deck House, and can accomodate up to 13 for dining, up to 20 for suite purposes.

Our Pub & Bar area is located on the first floor of the Deck House and is a more casual gathering spot that can accomodate up to 80 people. It is a great spot for cocktail hour, less-formal dining and/or dancing.

Looking for an outdoor space? Our side yard sits on the edge of the lake and is bordered by conservation land. It is the perfect setting for dining and dancing al fresco, and can also accomodate a variety of tent sizes.

Our Deck overlooks the pond and is a perfect spot for cocktails, a small ceremony, or just for guests to enjoy during your festivities.
