We searched high and low for a vegan and gluten-free bakery that was (1) delicious, (2) affordable, (3) close to the Chicago suburbs, (4) willing to make simple cupcakes for our wedding dessert. We secured a different bakery before the pandemic, however when we had to postpone our wedding that bakery unfortunately closed. We were so sad, and tried several other bakeries that just didn’t do it for us…and then we found Eye Candy! They checked ALL the boxes…especially in terms of deliciousness! We actually never tasted the flavors we chose for our wedding before the big day (they do offer tastings, we just didn’t have the time to make it happen). Instead, we picked up a few of their plain vanilla cupcakes to try, and loved them so much that we just knew any of their other flavors had to be amazing too. There were only a handful of guests at our wedding who were vegan, and less that were gluten-free, but we love simplicity so we decided going with only VGF cupcakes was the best move for us. When I say these cupcakes were a hit…it is an UNDERSTATEMENT. Every single person who tried one (I’m not exaggerating) raved about them. I was worried, because I had originally ordered 105 cupcakes and forgot to change the number when our guest count dropped down to 79…but by the end of the night there were less than 10 cupcakes left. In addition to being delicious, Eye Candy was great to work with and so professional. I’m so grateful that we found them!

Our gluten-free cake was so beautiful and delicious. Lorena is the best and we're so happy to have ordered not only our cake from her, but our sweets table items as well. She really nailed it!

BEST WEDDING CAKE I ever tasted!!

My mom and I met her for the tasting. I thought I knew what flavors I wanted to do for my cake, but I picked 3 different flavor fillings to try anyway. After the tasting I had completely changed my mind, and decided to do the 3 flavors I picked. I had a larger wedding (250-275), so we did 4 tiers. My cake was: Vanilla Bean cake with Strawberry Champagne filling, Tuxedo cake with Hazelnut filling, and lastly Italian Cream with one layer lemon curd, and one layer of cream cheese buttercream filling. The outer frosting was vanilla Swiss buttercream meringue. Although the cake was more than I had wanted to spend, it was absolutely worth it. I sent Lorena some picture of what I was looking for, and then all I had to do was have a table set up for her at the reception. She came and set everything up, and it looked absolutely amazing!!

Everyone was raving about the cake, and many people ate more than one flavor piece. My dad was happy, when he saw and heard how everyone loved it (he was complaining about the price before..haha). Even he had to admit that it was worth it. We had absolutely ZERO leftover cake, which should let you know how great it was.
