About

Charles S. Rivchun founded his jewelry business in downtown Cleveland in 1917, opening his first wholesale store in the Old Arcade Building on Euclid Avenue. Four years later, he moved the store to the Hickok Building on the corner of Ninth Street and Euclid Avenue. In 1943, Rivchun Jewelers moved to the Citizen's Building (today’s City Club Building) located at 850 Euclid Avenue where Charles encouraged a number of fellow jewelers to relocate and thus, was instrumental in establishing Cleveland’s Historical Jewelry Center.

Charles’ three sons, Sandy, Fred and Armand joined the business after World War II, along with Sandy’s wife, Lynne, and Fred’s wife, Muriel. Over the next five decades, the two families developed a reputation in both the community and the industry as experts in diamonds, precious gemstones and metals, watches and estate jewelry. Likewise, Rivchun’s embraced the most current trends and methods of the industry as was apparent by their introduction of lab certified diamonds to the Cleveland area.

In the spring of 2001, the Rivchun families were gracious enough to continue the jewelry store’s legacy by selling the business to their long time employees. Today, Chas. S. Rivchun & Sons, Jewelers is owned and operated as a wholesale/retail establishment by partners Joe Soukenik Sr., Sharon Porrello, and Joe Soukenik Jr. Rivchun’s staff of ten full-time employees share more than 240 years of jewelry experience and maintain the company’s formula for success: Service, Quality and Value!

Best Jewelers

My fiance and I went in not expecting much. We were referred by another friend that has had many pieces made here. When my fiance and I went in we told them what we visioned. We had pictures similar to what we wanted and they were able to custom design pieces that we could never have thought of on our own. They took pictures we found online and turned them in to masterpieces that fit our character and style. The staff is very friendly and you become family when you walk in the door. We looked at other jewelers and these guys beat everyone out of the park.

Custom made beauty

My husband worked with Joe to create a one of a kind engagement ring. It is absolutely stunning and I've never seen anything like it. Joe is responsive, creative, and really knows his stuff. For our wedding he made me a custom wedding band that fits perfectly with my unique ring. I can't imagine getting such works of art anywhere else.

My husband and I went to Chas Rivchun's to get my engagement ring sized, his heirloom wedding band cleaned, and to try to find a matching band for me. We were in and out so fast, I think it shocked my husband. The associate we worked with found a perfect match right away. When we returned to pick up the rings, we didn't realize the store was closed. The owner was there that day anyway, though, helping out another customer. And when we asked if we could trouble him to pick up our rings, he had absolutely no problem taking care of us, even though it was supposed to be a day off for him.
