Of the many years we have been photographing weddings, we have come across a handful of wedding officiants who gave incredibly thoughtful consideration to the couple's photographer. Cantor Jinny Marsh was by far the most congenial and gracious officiant that we have ever worked with. We felt that she truly understood that wedding photography was less about the photographer's "dream shot" and more about the authentic documentation of the wedding ceremony unfolding as a witnessed by all present. She was very thoughtful in placing the wedding party in positions where our photographer was able to see the delightful emotions of the couple and wedding party from arriving under the huppah to signing the ketubah to the wedding vows ... and so much more while at the same time moving the wedding ceremony along ever so smoothly. Her wonderful sense of humor, combining families from two cultures, and ability to integrate all the important pieces of a wedding ceremony was remarkable to us. Cantor Jinny Marsh is a wonderful, warm and engaging officiant. Her services are inclusive, making every faith (and none) feel welcome and loved. Her spirituality reaches not only her Jewish co-religionists, but also resonates and is very well received by people of all faiths and none. She reaches what it means to be human and joins us all. As a Catholic/Christian priest, when called upon to have a ceremony with both Jewish and Christian officiants, it is always a joy to do this with Cantor Jinny.
I have videotaped numerous events featuring Jinny in some capacity. Either as the entertainment with her band or as the leader in a religious service. She is always upbeat, sings beautifully, really fun to be around and well received by her audience. I wish I could be working at more events with her.
