I've been going to Camp Richardson since I was a baby and they made me and my family feel so at home throughout this whole experience!
Highly recommend for a beach wedding with the beautiful lake in the background!

Affordable, perfect for a laidback couple
We had our wedding at Camp Richardson in August of this year, and it was AMAZING. My husband and I didn't have a huge budget, but we wanted to be able to do the following: invite 100 family members and friends, get married outside (preferably near water in the mountains), have it be somewhere we could go back to, and be able to have our guests stay on-site. BOOM! Camp Rich. We had a beautiful, casual, rustic wedding on the beach, reception with a super tasty dinner in the Boathouse (which photos do not do justice to), and our guests were able to camp, stay in cabins, or stay in hotel rooms. We were also able to have welcome s'mores at the bonfire pit the night before. Mary and Sierra were great to work with-- they were super flexible where they were able to accommodate us, and worked well with our local vendors. We wouldn't change a thing, and I don't think you can find a better value for any venue of this kind (and we looked all over the Tahoe area and Colorado). THANKS CAMP RICH!!!

Camp Richardson was the perfect venue for us. We had under a 100 guests for our small wedding and as far as prices go for Lake Tahoe this is the best place. I wanted a beach wedding and that is exactly what I got. The boathouse was the perfect size and atmosphere for our reception. The staff was excellent and very professional. The food was fantastic and they even made suggestions when we couldn't decide. It was the perfect day and wouldn't change anything if I could.

Beach wedding
Technically we rented the beach threw Lake of the Sky but it was such a beautiful location. However, we did stay at a cabin on-site. It was perfect for us!

We had our wedding at Camp Richardson in August 2015 and it was perfect for our woodsy, rustic theme. We had the ceremony in front of the Studebaker Cabin and our reception in the boathouse. The space was perfect for our smallish group of 65, with most of our guests staying onsite at the historic lodge or in one of the cabins. With the lake, marina, beach, Beacon restaurant, ice cream shop and bike rentals all right there, it made it easy for even guests that were only in for the weekend to feel like they'd had a real vacation.
We had Camp Richardson cater our reception dinner and were not disappointed! They even put together a mac & cheese bar for us that everyone loved. Prices are reasonable and the staff were easy to work with. I'd get married there again in a heartbeat!

Definitely a DIY type of wedding venue
My husband and I had a lower ended budget. this venue is perfect for keeping it lower. We loved the venue for its scenery and vibe, because we both look being outdoors and being in the mountains/lake. It is definitely a DIY type of venue. so be prepared to have friends and family jump in to help with the set up. We chose to be at the Beach picnic area, because we chose this to be a destination, we wanted to view. Mary was great to work with and overall it is pretty straight forward type of venue. Their catering company they partner with is excellent. I loved their food so much and it was just easy.

Do not recommend
Overall, I do not recommend Camp Richardson as a vendor for many, many reasons. I booked the bbq area for a lake day event the day before my wedding (at a different vendor) as well as a room block. While the location is nice, it truly was not worth the added stress of dealing with such an unorganized group. Some of the biggest issues are below:
1) Communication was terrible. Multiple e-mails went completely unanswered, phone messages were never returned. Many times I had to repeat plans or requests that had already been discussed but clearly never recorded on their end.
2) I booked a room block...and it was messed up multiple times. One guest was never charged as they were supposed to have been when booked, one guest got a "block rate" (to this day don't know how or why they got this rate as we were told there was no discount for a block rate), one guest was told she needed my wedding coordinator to approve the booking (no idea why). Very inconsistent and again, just added more tasks and more stress for me.
3) The cherry on top was there was a sewage leak the week before the event. Camp Richardson did not notify me of this occurring which significantly impacted my event considering there was a swim advisory (recommendation was children should not be in the water due to risk of swallowing the water which had high levels of e.coli). When I found out about it and reached out, I was told multiple different recommendations and information based on who I talked to (the marina, the group events, or the hotel). I ended up calling US Forest Service in order to get a clear answer and ultimately had to change my event the day before.
