We used the Camelot II Ballroom in Lawrence as our reception venue and were extremely happy with it. The venue itself is beautiful--hardwood floors, chandeliers, adjustable lighting (to "set the mood"). Camelot was able to provide tables and chairs so we didn't have to worry about renting them. They were good about communicating via email and we were able to meet at the ballroom a few times and they were very good about explaining everything to me prior to our rental. Bridget was very helpful in all of our dealings.

Since Camelot's main studio is in Overland Park, it takes a little coordinating to meet and get into the Lawrence ballroom, but we were able to work it out and had a good feel for the space prior to our wedding. Just know that you probably couldn't drop by at the last minute and get in (though you can always look in the windows!) Camelot was very affordable, especially for a venue on Mass St. They seem to be working to improve the facility--they are adding kitchen space, for example--so I'm sure it will be an even better venue in the future. It may not be widely known as a rental space now, but I can't imagine it will remain a "hidden gem" forever!

Everything was beautiful and Bridget was a pleasure to work with. She even taught us three dances free of charge to wow our wedding guests.
