We met with several cake vendors and SC Buttercup was initially not on our list. After several cake tastings we thought we had decided on a vendor until they told us they could not create the design we envisioned for our cake. We were so close to picking another bakery we had met with previously since we felt we were out of options. After doing a little more online research, I came across SC Buttercup in Santa Cruz. We went in for a cake tasting and met with Molly, the pastry chef. We showed her pictures of what we envisioned for the cake and she knocked it out of the park. We had the most beautiful and unique cake that was so moist and delicious. We ordered mini cupcakes as well that complimented the gorgeous cake in the center of the table. Everyone loved them. We couldn't have been happier with our selection.

These guys are the best! They offered up different options for our budget at the wedding and really made it a personal experience that we will never forget. This was the best tasting cake I have ever tasted! So worth it!!! Their customer service was amazing as well so all around PERFECTION!!! I would definately buy again or just stop by their shop and say hello!!!!

We ordered our 4 tiered wedding cake from Buttercup Cakes (triple orange and german chocolate) and it was beautiful and delicious. The cake was so moist and tasted so fresh.

I swear to you, this is the best cake you'll ever eat in Santa Cruz county. I love this bakery. I love their flavors. I love their promise to keeping things local, sustainable and organic whenever possible. I love their seasonality. I love that the owner delivers cakes and cupcakes personally. This bakery is one of a kind.

Buttercup absolutely knocked our wedding cakes out of the park. They were delicious and received all the rave reviews from our guests.

We got them involved early on in the process and were made immediate fans. Throughout the year before the wedding we would stop in and taste more of their wares at their store front in downtown Santa Cruz—we even took one of their cupcake decorating classes!

Despite having the skills to now do it ourselves (har, har) we kept them on and on the day of the wedding they were amazing. Though I don't know that the bride and groom had any interactions with them personally, I do know they came in and setup on time and left an amazing spread of cupcakes and a small two-tiered cake in their wake.

We hired Buttercup Cakes for our wedding. We contacted the bakery and Annie invited us in to sample the different cupcakes (so much fun!) and decided which ones we wanted for the wedding. We ended up ordering 3 different types of cupcakes and one small cake to cut. The variety of cupcakes gave us a lot to work with and helped us have a dessert table with a little bit of everything for everyone. The spread was beautiful and they also provided us silver rounds for rent. The Bramble flavor (raspberry and rose) has to be our favorite. Thank you so much Annie and the rest of Buttercup Cakes!

My wife and I booked Buttercup for both cupcakes and a small wedding cake for our May 2019 wedding. They were easy to work with, professional, and delicious! Our tasting was a fun and low-pressure experience.

On the day of our wedding, our guests were SO excited to try the cupcakes. We got 5 exciting flavors… about 250 cupcakes for a wedding of 115 people. The small, 2-tier cake we got was the perfect size for our cutting, and the whole display (cupcakes + cake) looked magical.

Buttercup did the cake (and cupcakes) for our wedding this weekend, and they nailed it!

About a quarter of our guests are either non-dairy, vegan, gluten-free, or some combination. Half the bakers we talked to didn't know how to accommodate that... but it didn't phase Buttercup at all. We got a mix of 6 flavors so everyone had at least one they'd like... and everyone loved them!

Plus they did a gorgeous job on the presentation, with multiple layers on stacked wooden tree rounds.

They also catered a tea party for the bridal shower. The sandwiches and cookies were delicious, and all the guests loved it.
