We had our wedding ceremony here. We dealt with the gallery manager; he was really nice and willing to work with you to meet your needs. We had a rehearsal the night before our wedding and everything was ready for the next day. As long as you keep him informed everything should go smoothly! We were lucky to have such vibrant paintings at the time of our ceremony & it added a lot to our ceremony decor. We didn't have to decorate much! I would love to have an event here again and would suggest it to couples who want something different for their ceremony or reception!

After attending YSU and spending A LOT of my free time wandering around the museum, I had dreamed of holding my wedding reception here. I was incredibly fortunate and was able to do so this past August. It was amazing.
Highlights of working with the Butler:
1. They were wonderfully receptive of an alternative caterer that was not on their approved list. Arranging a meeting prior to the wedding between the Butler and the caterer allowed them enough time to get the caterer on the approved list.
2. It is a stunning space. Words cannot describe how wonderful it looked.

The only reasons this was not a 5 star review across the board: 1. It is expensive. Very expensive.
2. Due to its nature as an art gallery, there were certain prohibited items that limited centerpieces and decorations, such as no candles or helium balloons. Completely reasonable but still technically a negative in flexibility.

The Butler Art Institute is very beautiful. Unfortunatly they are difficult to work with and the Price is NOT right!! Very expensive for what you get. If I could go back I would choose another venue.
