Being able to have Blue Plate cater our wedding was an absolute dream. Alexis, Shelia, Isa and Julio were truly the best team to have. From the start, Alexis was genuine, passionate, and thoughtful. When we showed up to our tasting, Alexis and her team had gone above and beyond to really personalize our tasting. They staged our table to reflect our design choices and even surprised us with a couple of unique treats they designed specifically to incorporate the bride's South Asian culture. We were truly blown away by the presentation and amount of thought put into our tasting. This attention to detail and level of care continued throughout our journey with Blue Plate. They were happy to adjust the menu and individual dishes so that they were exactly what we wanted. We also loved that Blue Plate puts such an emphasis on guest service as well as the wellbeing of their employees. The number of employees they have working on any given wedding day is higher than the average caterer and we were so grateful for that. We knew our guests were well taken care of. We absolutely LOVED the food and the quality was unbeatable. To this day we still crave our late night ramen bar and joke we'll just have to attend another BP catered event. Blue Plate takes catering very seriously and they were extremely professional and well-rehearsed all night. We especially appreciated our personal server, Isa, as she was as attentive as humanly possible. The bride accidentally spilled hors d'oeuvres all over her wedding dress before joining the guests at reception. Isa immediately jumped into action with some cleaning wipes and managed to make the bride’s dress literally spotless! Seriously, Isa was the MVP! She was nearby all night with a water or cocktail in hand, checking up on the couple often. As the couple planning their wedding, they spend all year thinking of the guests and the guest experience. Blue Plate was one of those special vendors that spends time thinking about YOUR experience as a couple, too. We absolutely loved our experience with the team at Blue Plate and we can’t thank Alexis, Shelia, Julio, and Isa enough for their work on the most important day of our lives. We truly cannot recommend them enough.

Blue Plate did an amazing job. The food was delicious, the service was seamless, and communication was easy, which was huge since they played such a big role in the day with determining so many logistics. We had a buffet for about 110 people, and everything ran smoothly. It was definitely on the pricier side, but the quality really showed. The staff made sure we were very taken care of the entire evening. Our guests loved the food, and the chicken tendies and mac and cheese late‑night snacks were delicious!

Blue Plate catered our daughter’s wedding reception for 182 people Labor Day weekend 2025 at the Chicago History Museum. We were extremely pleased with their service and delicious food.
We signed a contract with Blue Plate autumn of 2024. Winter of 2025 my husband and I flew to Chicago to join Rebecca and Jack for the tasting at the impressive Blue Plate offices in the West Loop. Blue Plate knew how to lay out the welcome mat and add the special touches. We sampled many items so the bride and groom could make their menu choices. We knew if the tasting was any indication of Blue Plate's service and food, we would be in excellent hands for the wedding reception.
Our Blue Plate sales director Elinor Harton was a pleasure to work with. During the planning process she answered our many detailed questions promptly. Elinor at Blue Plate, our wedding planner Kate of Cygnet Event and Designs, and the staff at Chicago History Museum were a dynamic team.
It was quite the party. Our guests loved the varied Passed Hors d’Oeuvres. A HUGE hit. Each guest preselected their entree before the event. The many servers brought the plated entrees in quickly and smoothly. Our guests sampled the many mini sweets from the dessert station.
Thank you Blue Plate for providing delicious food and for serving our guests so well. You made our daughter’s wedding reception a most memorable night.

We had a great experience with getting to know Blue Plate. Although we did not choose them as our caterer, they will surely not disappoint. Their top-tiered customer service started as soon as we arrived for our tasting. Their endless amount of food options, also made it easy to try to stay within our budget.

Blue Plate Catering was incredibly accommodating of our multicultural, multigenerational food requests for our wedding. It was very important to my husband and I that we serve Filipino and Ecuadorian cuisine at our wedding, as an homage to our families, and as a symbol of the marrying of our two cultural identities into one - a difficult task that they smashed out of the park! They really listened to us (and to our parents, lol) and integrated all of our requests, and the food turned out delicious! Please hire them, you will not be disappointed!

We used Blue Plate for our August 2021 wedding at Cafe Brauer. They were the only approved caterer we spoke with that seemed enthusiastic about doing an entirely gluten-free wedding. I have celiac disease and I didn’t even want gluten bread rolls on the table - there was no way I was getting sick on my wedding day! The food was truly phenomenal (including the GF rolls :) ) - our guests still talk about it to this day. And I was so grateful they could prepare it all safely. Huge thanks to Rachel and the team for doing such an incredible job!

Blue Plate was our first tasting and unfortunately the tastings we went to after that paled in comparison to the quality of food and attention to detail. They were accommodating when we had to reschedule our wedding a year due to covid and very responsive along the way, especially when we were given a new event coordinator prior to our 2021 event. What I loved about them aside from the delicious food was that they paid attention to what was going on at the event. We had an hour delay due to a transportation company not picking up guests as scheduled and the Blue Plate team knew how to adjust food preparation accordingly. The steak was perfectly cooked and all food warm. The servers were professional and made sure to get to all areas of the venue for passed apps and late night bites. I truly enjoyed all my interactions with their team and my guests are still talking about how it was the best wedding food they had ever had!

We hired Blue Plate as they are one of the exclusive vendors for the Chicago History Museum. They were incredible throughout everything, especially as we had to plan, and replan many times due to COVID. They accommodated us in every way and Elinor was responsive, organized, and so kind! The food was incredible and all of our guests were well fed. Our wedding party admitted that they were standing by the doors where cocktail hour bites were coming out in order to get first dibs! Even beyond the food the service was fantastic, and they helped coordinate absolutely everything! Our wedding went so smoothly because of them and we cannot thank them enough!

We used Blue Plate for our sons's recent Covid rescheduled, tented, backyard wedding reception. They pulled it off with 3 weeks notice and everything was perfect! The tasting was great and the execution of our choices on the night of was every bit as good, even though it was 90 degrees and humid that night! I would highly recommend Trish Vogel and her team at Blue Plate.

Having been introduced to Blue Plate through work functions, I knew if there was any way we could afford to use them for our wedding, that’s who I wanted to work with. And as a pleasant surprise, they weren’t even our highest quote! And I can’t even say enough how wonderful it was to work with Nicole C. at Blue Plate, from the initial phone conversation to the big day. She immediately got the vision we had. It was so wonderful being able to have the flexibility to create a menu from the ground up to fulfill our vision of a French themed evening. From having them specifically source breakfast radishes for crudite, to recreating a salad I was set on having, and fulfilling our vision for centerpieces lush with demi baguettes and croissants, no other caterer could have done it better. And the food, as expected, was delicious and beautiful! Our venue told us that no one else is better than Blue Plate when it comes to service. I had so many guests tell me they were SO impressed with the staff’s attention to detail and efficiency of service. And I find it so endearing that every staff member I came into contact with that evening congratulated me on my marriage. They are simply the BEST!
