I can't say enough about Jeff as a wedding photographer -- I don't even know where to start. My (now) husband and I met him when he was the photographer at another wedding. He threw a quick joke our way and I immediately clocked that he would be a fun person to spend your day with. Obviously the photos are important, but you are going to spend basically your whole wedding day with your photographer. They should be someone who will brighten your day, not add to the stress. Jeff (and Brian, the second shooter who came with him) will definitely make a bright day even brighter.

On to the actual photos -- they are amazing. Jeff's style definitely includes giving direction, but he's not minutely adjusting you into specific poses that you need to hold for the perfect shot. My husband was a bit nervous to be having formal photos taken, and Jeff immediately put him at ease. We had a great session, and the resulting pictures were beautiful, fun, and truly showcased our personalities. That being said, it was clear that Jeff picked up on our vibe and used that as a cue for the direction to take. I'm confident he does the same when working with others.

The photos from our actual wedding day are out of this world. I'm currently trying to select a few to share via social media and it's a herculean task. Of course, there are tons of beautiful and amazing pictures of my husband and I -- but that's not the actual problem. The problem is that there are so many awesome pictures joyously capturing our beloved family and friends that it's impossible to choose only a few to showcase. The dance floor photos are truly epic.

Finally, I just want to touch on what it is like to work with Jeff during everything leading up to the wedding. He has clear packages and pricing on his website, but it was super easy to customize what we wanted. He is easy to reach and responds promptly and professionally. He's exceptionally organized in the information that he needs from you and obviously pays attention to details. I had a list of specific formal photos I wanted and he made sure we got them all. Post-wedding he was very communicative about the timeline for receiving our photos.

We couldn't be happier about working with Jeff, and we'll recommend him to anyone who will listen.

Are 1,000 Stars possible to leave as a review, because if so Black Thumb Studio deserves all of them. Owner Jeff Turner and 2nd shooter George Buhl are in a league of their own. Having done a lot of work with Jeff over the years at my place of work, we knew the quality of his photographer exceptional, but combining the real time experience with the finished product, Black Thumb is on another level. From the start with in-person and Zoom meetings planning our engagement party shoot in 2022, to traveling across the country for a destination wedding in Napa, CA, Jeff not only was a consummate professional but also a loving and caring friend. His meticulous detail in ensuring that all of the things most important to us came to light was paramount. Jeff planned out his own timeline in advance to meet with each of our venues (hotel, winery for a private photography session, and venue for ceremony & reception) getting the lay of a foreign land. Come the day of the wedding, it was like Napa was his old stomping grounds. Both Jeff and George were committed to getting every shot while sticking to our complex timeline, stepping in and organizing our wedding party when needed and stepping back and allowing us to soak in the day. Each special moment was captured from every angle, and with just two shooters, we can’t believe how many amazing photos were taken. Met Jeff at a wedding expo at Lombardos. His pictures stood out from all of the other photographers there. My husband and I loved working with Jeff from the start for our wedding on October 8, 2016. We were looking for a photographer that matched our personalities and both Jeff and his brother in law matched what we were looking for along with their quality of work.
