Rachel, along with the whole Bitter Sweet Catering team, was super helpful and easy to get in touch with throughout the whole process. They were very great to work with, especially on relatively short notice and when the menu had to be altered on several occasions due to previously unknown dietary restrictions of guests. Every one kept telling me how tasty the food was throughout the reception. Would definitely recommend their catering services for future events.

We had a very positive experience with Bittersweet. I called three different caterers, and I picked Bittersweet because they were the most affordable, the most responsive, and had menu options that I thought would appeal to all of our guests. Rachel was conscience of our budget and made great suggestions about where to economize without losing the overall effect we wanted. For example, we were able to purchase our own alcohol, which saved us a lot of money. The company they work with, Perfect Settings, had many place settings and linens to choose from, and Rachel helped us pick a beautiful look that worked with our aesthetic without breaking the bank. And of course, the food was fantastic! We loved everything we tried at our tasting, and the guests were thrilled with their meals. One guest, the son of a butcher, said it was the best cut of beef he had had in years! Even though some of our decisions probably complicated things for the wait staff (like giving meal options to our guests and having a traditional wedding cake that had to be cut and served), Jody and her team seemed to handle everything effortlessly. I was glad that we hired Rachel to be our day-of coordinator because she helped keep everyone calm and organizd on the wedding day. I would definitely use Bittersweet again and highly recommend them to anyone planning a wedding in the DC area.

Jody and her team were very easy to work with from start to finish. The company is family owned and operated and it shows. From the moment we contacted Bittersweet for a tasting, they went the extra mile to ensure that we were fully aware of all our options regarding setup, teardown, menu, and equipment. They did not push us into a deal and, at every opportunity, looked for ways to streamline and reduce the cost of the event without sacrificing quality. Rest assured that on your big day, Bittersweet will make it a success and you won’t have to be looking over their shoulder. They worked around the congested floor plan at our large family wedding and found ways to streamline traffic flow at the buffet and bar. We truly cannot say enough about their exceptional customer service.
We came in with a basic idea of what we wanted and they made great suggestions that made for a beautiful and tasty summer southern food buffet. Bittersweet also made our wedding cake - and we still have people telling us that it was the best cake they've ever had. The price was much more reasonable than going with a separate baker, the cake was beautiful, the guests loved it, and having one less vendor to worry about is a win!

Bittersweet made my reception amazing, stress free and enjoyable. The service was top notch, the food was outstanding, and the cake devine. Highly recommend. They went above and beyond.

It was a pleasure to work with Bittersweet Catering. We chose them because of their promotions with our venue, the Cherry Blossom Riverboat. They seemed to be very familiar with the boat. They provided equipment such as the tables and linens, and also worked with setting it all up. This helped tremendously with making the wedding planning less stressful. They also had a good selection of food, cake, and linen colors for the tables. The food and cake tasted very good. They even let us take home the leftovers.

We looked at Bittersweet because they were a preferred vendor for our venue, I was very happy with our choice and Bittersweet did an amazing job with our wedding reception! We worked with Rachael and I thought she was great from the very beginning. She was patient and helpful while we picked out linens, made all the changes we asked for as we went along, and was responsive and professional throughout. I felt like she and the company really cared about our business and making things go smoothly. We ended up going with an alternate vendor for our wedding cake, just because of the style we wanted. But when we were still making up our minds, Rachael gave us full size cupcakes (a half dozen each!) of the flavors we were interested in so we could share with our friends and get feedback. Our wedding day went off without a hitch, including beautiful place settings and making sure things like our gift knife/server and our favors went where we wanted them. Most importantly, everyone raved about the food and the great time they had!

We bought cake sheets from Bittersweet for our casual wedding. They were delicious!!

They also are able to deliver to the ceremony site, which was wonderful!

The only possible downside is that they did not allow us to taste the cakes prior to ordering them. This was okay with us because they came highly recommended by Union Street Public House, our reception site.

Our guests commented on how delicious the cakes were. Because we ordered sheet cakes, we were able to have four kinds of cake, including carrot cake.

We would highly recommend Bittersweet and plan to get other cakes from them in the future.

We really liked working with Bittersweet for catering a reception cruise on Potomac Riverboat Company. Jody was great to work with - very flexible and responsive. The food was great and very well presented- we ordered about 8 platters and each was delicious!

The only minor challenge was on delivery time - Bittersweet only delivers until 5 pm and we needed a 5:30 delivery. To address, we had our planner pick up the food at an alternate location. This approach worked well and Jody worked with us to tweak our order to streamline this process.

Rachael Worsley with Bittersweet Catering was phenomenal to work with, our venue was a the Cherry Blossom River Boat and only a few vendors are approved for that venue. Rachael had all the details laid out for me and worked with our group that grew a bit larger than we first anticipated, but no one felt too close even with the tables arranged differently. We used a buffet style option with hors d'ouvres served by staff you hardly noticed were there. The bartenders were very generous with guests. The food overall was very good, considering the buffet style, the chicken we had was excellent. We also used their cupcakes as the centerpieces for our tables and desserts for our guests while we had a small cake to cut for ceremonial purposes. Overall great event and excellent service.
