We used Dan for our DJ and loved it! He was very responsive to all our questions. He has been doing this for a very long time and gave us some great suggestions and pointers for the timeline of our reception. We really liked using his online music library to build our custom playlist before the reception. We felt very confident before the reception that he knew exactly what to do and when to do it. Our reception was a ton of fun and Dan worked with us on all our wants and needs!

Baby Boomer Sound as a company may be a good Dj service to use. Dan Cook, however, is not. We even paid extra to have him as our DJ. At the time that we contracted this DJ service, their website and information was that we wouldn't know who our DJ was until close to our wedding, depending on our music worksheet. There were people there that we did not want to have as our DJ and Dan Cook was the Dj that was at all the wedding planning events (Scottish Rite Cathedral). He seemed very upbeat and intune with his audience. Boy, was that a front. The Dan Cook that we got on our wedding had an attitude. Many people made the comment that it seemed that he was just going through the motions and that he had lost his passion for his career. a few of the "highlights" of our evening was when the GROOM'S FATHER asked if the DJ could mention that his parent's 60th wedding anniversary was that month (they were too ill to travel to make it for the wedding) he curtly asked if they were in attendence to which was responded no and he made a face that was just like "you are so stupid for asking that" and just said no, shook his head, and looked down to do play w/ his buttons and knobs. He left the groom's father just standing there, baffled. I felt this was so extremely rude... i mean, what would it have hurt to mention that they were not able to attend but would be celebrating 60 years?! that's a big feat. When we were doing the cake he demanding that our event coordinator turn the house lights up because he thought they should be up. The event coordinator was like, no, they should be like that are... and we agreed. they shouldn't have been fully up. And finally, when we were all out dancing, apparently Dan Cook thought it would be fun to treat me, the bride, like an idiot. We were doing a dance that i wasn't doing correctly the whole time...i was just out having fun w/ my friends but he kept correcting me on his microphone and telling everyone that i didn't know my left from my right or that i was doing it wrong or something or another. It completely ruined the moment and was upsetting a lot of my friends too. we tried to just tune it out. I would NEVER recommend Dan Cook for any formal event. EVER.

UPDATE:
So, almost one year later Dan Cook emails me to apparently argue everything I've put into the review. Basically tells me that everything we experienced that related to him was a complete misconception on our behalf. He didn't know who the father of the groom was. Didn't know who the mother of the bride was. I mean, what kind of wedding professional is this? Add POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE to this review as well. The customer apparently is not always right when it comes to Dan Cook.
We're all about trust. Our community relies on honest reviews to help you make those big decisions with ease.
