About

Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage, home of the People’s President, is a national historic landmark and event venue located 10 miles east of downtown Nashville. The 1120-acre Hermitage property features four beautiful and unique event spaces--Hermitage English Garden, Historic Hermitage Church, Cabin by the Spring, and Tulip Grove Mansion.

Facilities and Capacity
Couples can exchange vows in an indoor or outdoor ceremony and accommodate up to 500 guests at our rustic estate. Venues include:

  • Cabin by the Spring - Features three spacious rooms, each with a limestone fireplace and doorway that leads to a covered brick terrace. The terrace overlooks a lovely wooded glen near the Jackson family's original stone spring house. Hold your ceremony under the sweeping branches of the "wedding tree", a towering beech tree just steps from the venue. The venue features a catering kitchen, private restrooms, and is heated and air-conditioned.
  • Tulip Grove Mansion - Noted as one of Tennessee's most elegant Greek Revival mansions, Tulip Grove affords the perfect setting for your ceremony and reception. Constructed in 1836 as the home of Andrew Jackson Donelson and his wife, Emily. Tulip Grove features stunning architecture, lush grounds, and a beautiful boxwood walk. The spacious front and side lawns offer plenty of room for both ceremonies and receptions. Tulip Grove is an outdoor venue only.
  • The English Garden - A lovely traditional four-square English garden consisting of four quadrants and circular center beds. The garden features perennial flowers, herbs, blooming vines, shrubs, and fruit trees. Our historic gardening staff work year-round to make sure there are abundant flowers and foliage from Spring through Fall. The two front garden quadrants are perfect for wedding ceremonies or receptions. Once the sun sets, the nearby Hermitage mansion is lit against the night sky.
  • The Hermitage Church - Built in 1823 by Andrew Jackson as a gift to his wife and the surrounding community. This quaint brick structure offers lovely pew seating and a simple, intimate setting to exchange vows. It accommodates 140 seated guests. The building is heated, but not air-conditioned and is recommended for Spring, Winter, and Fall weddings.

Services Offered
Each venue rental includes the use of our bridal suite in the Andrew Jackson center, a two-hour engagaement or bridal photography session on our grounds (photographer not included), plentiful parking, and a one-hour rehearsal.

A Planner and Venue you want to work with!

I am a DJ in the Nashville area and I had the pleasure of working with Emily Dolch at the Hermitage for a wedding. Emily was extremely communicative, friendly, and overall, just an easy and enjoyable person to work with! Everything was planned thoroughly and we were able execute everything perfectly. By the end of the night, the bride and groom were raving about how much they enjoyed their special day, which wouldn't have been possible with Emily and the amazing staff at the Hermitage. Plus, this venue is absolutely gorgeous! I would highly recommend if you are looking for a team and venue, they will make your special day as memorable as possible!

Absolutely perfect

We were absolutely blown away by our experience with the Hermitage, particularly Emily and her team. The venue is beautiful and exceeded all of our expectations - the Church and the Cabin by the Spring are so charming and were the perfect locations for our ceremony and reception. We had our rehearsal dinner at the Mansion and are so happy we did - getting that extra time on site was so nice and the setting is gorgeous.
Emily and her team were professional, prompt, and made our wedding day run so smoothly. It was such a relief to not have to worry about details on our wedding day - knowing they were on our side truly allowed us to relax and enjoy the whole process from planning to actually walking down the aisle. Besides the team we worked with, everyone at the Hermitage was super accommodating - when my dress got caught walking out the door from the visitors center, a kind lady at the ticket counter got me un-stuck!
We seriously could not have imagined a more beautiful day. Every detail was just perfect and it wouldn't have been possible without the Hermitage and the event team!

Intimate Wedding

Grew up going to the Hermitage and was so excited to get married in the Hermitage church. Everyone was very helpful and the church hardly needed decorations. We had an awesome wedding!

Intimate Ceremony This Year - Big Party Next Year!

Getting married at The Hermitage was an absolute DREAM! While we had to forego our big party this year due to COIVD, Emily and the entire events team was so accommodating in helping us pivot to an intimate ceremony with only our parents. We can't wait to be back there celebrating our one year anniversary with all our friends and family. If you're looking for a gorgeous venue with historical ties and an exceptional event planning team, this is the place for you!

Magical elopement!

I can't say enough great things about the Hermitage! My now husband and I were supposed to get married at their Cabin by the Spring in late April, but due to COVID-19, we chose to postpone. Prior to the postponement, Emily (the events manager we worked with) had been INCREDIBLE throughout the planning process, answering endless questions and welcoming us to drop by anytime to take measurements, check out the floor plan, etc. We originally chose this venue because it's gorgeous and super affordable. If you're looking at this review -- you're probably realizing how expensive and competitive it is to get married in Nashville!
Anyway, when we landed on the heartbreaking decision to postpone just one month out from our wedding date, Emily and the team could not have been more accommodating and flexible; It was a really emotional and sad moment for us -- and she truly went above and beyond to make the postponement as seamless and headache-free as possible.
We postponed to September, but still really wanted to tie the knot sooner. We reached out to Emily to discuss elopement options, and she was able to help us coordinate the most magical, intimate elopement for just a few weeks later in June!
Emily saw that the most beautiful ceremony site in the mansion gardens was selected and that chairs were set up for our guests (immediate family only due to COVID gathering restrictions). She even had a golf cart ready to tote us over to the ceremony site since it was so hot outside!
As of last week, we decided to *again* postpone our September date and take a step back from planning until late 2021, and again, the Hermitage has been nothing but accommodating, flexible, and understanding with what we're going through.
If you're looking for a venue that will treat you like a member of the family and not just a date/down payment... I will tell you to get married here!

Incredible, Stunning, Dream Wedding

Not only is the venue incredible, but the wedding planner, Emily, kept our wedding and reception running smoothly and brought calm expertise to our wedding day. All staff were above and beyond any expectation as they allowed us to access the wedding venue VERY early in the morning to be prepared for our 10 AM wedding. We cannot recommend this venue enough, you will not be disappointed with the quality of the venues or the attention to detail the entire Hermitage staff provide for your special day!

I couldn't have asked for a better venue!

I got married a month and a half ago and people are still raving about how much they loved how unique The Hermitage was. There's so much history there, but also so much beauty! Most of the vendors I used were familiar with the venue, which made planning much easier. Emily (our month of coordinator) made all of the difference in planning our wedding day and how smoothly things ran on our actual wedding day. I cannot recommend getting married at The Hermitage more! They also have a large catalog of decor that you can rent for your wedding day, which saves money and keeps you from being stuck with a bunch of random wedding decor after your big day.
We're all about trust. Our community relies on honest reviews to help you make those big decisions with ease.
