A Planner and Venue you want to work with!
I am a DJ in the Nashville area and I had the pleasure of working with Emily Dolch at the Hermitage for a wedding. Emily was extremely communicative, friendly, and overall, just an easy and enjoyable person to work with! Everything was planned thoroughly and we were able execute everything perfectly. By the end of the night, the bride and groom were raving about how much they enjoyed their special day, which wouldn't have been possible with Emily and the amazing staff at the Hermitage. Plus, this venue is absolutely gorgeous! I would highly recommend if you are looking for a team and venue, they will make your special day as memorable as possible! -

Absolutely perfect
We were absolutely blown away by our experience with the Hermitage, particularly Emily and her team. The venue is beautiful and exceeded all of our expectations - the Church and the Cabin by the Spring are so charming and were the perfect locations for our ceremony and reception. We had our rehearsal dinner at the Mansion and are so happy we did - getting that extra time on site was so nice and the setting is gorgeous.
Emily and her team were professional, prompt, and made our wedding day run so smoothly. It was such a relief to not have to worry about details on our wedding day - knowing they were on our side truly allowed us to relax and enjoy the whole process from planning to actually walking down the aisle. Besides the team we worked with, everyone at the Hermitage was super accommodating - when my dress got caught walking out the door from the visitors center, a kind lady at the ticket counter got me un-stuck!
We seriously could not have imagined a more beautiful day. Every detail was just perfect and it wouldn't have been possible without the Hermitage and the event team! -

Intimate Wedding
Grew up going to the Hermitage and was so excited to get married in the Hermitage church. Everyone was very helpful and the church hardly needed decorations. We had an awesome wedding! -

Emily and her crew were fantastic to work with. From start to finish, they had great communication, they were flexible, and had such happy spirits in going about their job. Intimate Ceremony This Year - Big Party Next Year!
Getting married at The Hermitage was an absolute DREAM! While we had to forego our big party this year due to COIVD, Emily and the entire events team was so accommodating in helping us pivot to an intimate ceremony with only our parents. We can't wait to be back there celebrating our one year anniversary with all our friends and family. If you're looking for a gorgeous venue with historical ties and an exceptional event planning team, this is the place for you! -

Magical elopement!
I can't say enough great things about the Hermitage! My now husband and I were supposed to get married at their Cabin by the Spring in late April, but due to COVID-19, we chose to postpone. Prior to the postponement, Emily (the events manager we worked with) had been INCREDIBLE throughout the planning process, answering endless questions and welcoming us to drop by anytime to take measurements, check out the floor plan, etc. We originally chose this venue because it's gorgeous and super affordable. If you're looking at this review -- you're probably realizing how expensive and competitive it is to get married in Nashville!
Anyway, when we landed on the heartbreaking decision to postpone just one month out from our wedding date, Emily and the team could not have been more accommodating and flexible; It was a really emotional and sad moment for us -- and she truly went above and beyond to make the postponement as seamless and headache-free as possible.
We postponed to September, but still really wanted to tie the knot sooner. We reached out to Emily to discuss elopement options, and she was able to help us coordinate the most magical, intimate elopement for just a few weeks later in June!
Emily saw that the most beautiful ceremony site in the mansion gardens was selected and that chairs were set up for our guests (immediate family only due to COVID gathering restrictions). She even had a golf cart ready to tote us over to the ceremony site since it was so hot outside!
As of last week, we decided to *again* postpone our September date and take a step back from planning until late 2021, and again, the Hermitage has been nothing but accommodating, flexible, and understanding with what we're going through.
If you're looking for a venue that will treat you like a member of the family and not just a date/down payment... I will tell you to get married here! -

Incredible, Stunning, Dream Wedding
Not only is the venue incredible, but the wedding planner, Emily, kept our wedding and reception running smoothly and brought calm expertise to our wedding day. All staff were above and beyond any expectation as they allowed us to access the wedding venue VERY early in the morning to be prepared for our 10 AM wedding. We cannot recommend this venue enough, you will not be disappointed with the quality of the venues or the attention to detail the entire Hermitage staff provide for your special day! -

I couldn't have asked for a better venue!
I got married a month and a half ago and people are still raving about how much they loved how unique The Hermitage was. There's so much history there, but also so much beauty! Most of the vendors I used were familiar with the venue, which made planning much easier. Emily (our month of coordinator) made all of the difference in planning our wedding day and how smoothly things ran on our actual wedding day. I cannot recommend getting married at The Hermitage more! They also have a large catalog of decor that you can rent for your wedding day, which saves money and keeps you from being stuck with a bunch of random wedding decor after your big day. -

The Best Day Ever
We were recently married in November at Andrew Jackson's Hermitage. We could write a book with reasons why we recommend this venue, but in the interest of time, here are our two favorites:
The Staff: Emily and her team are the definition of professional. They not only handled all operations and decision making the day of the wedding (flawlessly), but fully supported us during the months leading up to the wedding. We are so thankful that Emily was there to guide us through the whole process.
The Venue: We were married in the Chapel which was simple, yet beautiful. The reception took place at The Cabin by the Spring which was cozy and warm. We're still receiving compliments about both sites and how unique they were.
All in all, the venue and the staff make this a must visit if you're looking for a wedding venue. And we'll say it again because we can't say it enough, Emily is AMAZING.

Fall Wedding
My experience working with Andrew Jackson's Hermitage and especially Emily Dolch was PHENOMENAL. Emily made sure that every detail was worked out before the wedding so that I didn't have to worry about a thing. On the day of the wedding she managed everything! From florists to caterers to lighting, I didn't have to talk to a single vendor or make time in the day to meet them. The setting was perfect, the mansion made for a great back drop and the tent was perfect for dancing the night away. I couldn't have imagined a better wedding day and I know that the people helping put it together played a huge role in my being able to enjoy the day fully with no distractions. -

What a day it was!!!
Though the Church got VERY hot, with NO form of air conditioning, our wedding there and our reception (at the Cabin by the Spring) was AMAZING!!! I would highly recommend The Hermitage to anyone getting married. Their staff is extremely helpful and attentive at ALL times!!! From our FIRST visit to our Wedding Day, we were VERY pleased! -

Dream Wedding
Erica and her team at The Hermitage made my vision come to life. My wedding day was absolute perfection. From the venue, to the recommended vendors, and the small details that make all the difference, I couldn’t have asked for anything more. Everything I said was important to me, was there and highlighted. I am still getting compliments on my wedding and have been told by A LOT of my guests that it was the most beautiful and fun wedding they’ve ever attended. As a bride that planned for over a year and a half, that meant everything to me. I couldn’t have done it without Erica and will be forever grateful for making the most important day of my life perfect in every way. -

When looking for a venue/event space for our wedding we fell in love with The Hermitage. The pictures online are gorgeous but it's even MORE gorgeous when you see it in person--you will be blown away. We live out-of-state so we were doing a lot of emailing back and forth with Erica, the event director/planner. She was REALLY helpful in answering all of my questions; she even let me get her opinion on a few things as well as bounce ideas off of her. *THANK YOU FOR THAT*
We met with Erica 2 weeks before our wedding day, toured the grounds and areas we would be using. We felt VERY well taken care of and any of the loose ends/questions we had she was already tying them up, finding solutions or had an answer. Our wedding day was like a dream come true. She and her team truly knocked it out of the park. My husband said it was as though they had a copy of my vision and how I wanted the space set-up and they HUSTLED to make it happen. If they told me they waved a magic wand I would have believed them. It was that amazing. -

Words cannot express how wonderful our experience was with the Hermitage! Erica, Kellie and the other staff we worked with, helped me to finalize all of our plans and brought all my ideas to life! They communicated with me all the time, and were very organized. They made our wedding day and whole experience go so smoothly. They were so accommodating and helped in every way possible. Not to mention, The Hermitage is one of the most beautiful places in Nashville! Our photos are stunning because of the beautiful location. We had a lot of out of town guests, and they enjoyed touring the grounds before hand. Love love love that we chose to have our wedding and reception here! -

We were so thrilled with our experience at The Hermitage. We booked The Hermitage without seeing it in advance, and we ended up being so pleased with how everything turned out for our wedding day (11/19/2016). We chose an outdoor ceremony at dusk on the lawn, and our reception at Cabin by the Spring. It was truly a treasured experience for us and our guests. The ceremony was beautiful and peaceful at dusk under the trees. The intimacy of the cabin and ambiance with wood-burning fireplaces was unique for our guests. We loved the historic, rustic and authentic nature of the site. We have stunning photos under the fall trees, against cabin stone-work, and in the cotton field. The team was very accommodating and helpful from start to finish. Shannon was a joy to work with. It is a dream come true that the venue provides day of coordinating. I highly recommend The Hermitage for an authentic, rustic feel and a professional, excellent team. -

Our wedding was a dream come true at Andrew Jackson's Hermitage! Our ceremony took place at the historic Hermitage Church followed by the reception at the Tulip Grove Mansion. Both spaces were charming and beautiful, but even more impressive was the staff. Our Wedding Coordinator Emily Piepenbrink was the BEST! Emily and her team were very professional, detail-oriented, but most of all, incredibly friendly. As a hospitality professional myself, I greatly appreciated this. She made our wedding the best day ever (even in the rain)! I would highly recommend booking an event or wedding at The Hermitage! If you do, ask for Emily! You will not be disappointed. -

I have had a fabulous experience with the team at the Hermitage. My ceremony and reception is at The Cabin by the Spring this weekend, and working with Bonnie has made me feel so relaxed. She knows what works and what doesn't in the venue, and she is great at listening to what it is you really want out of your day. Ben was a dream with coordinating details on the front end, and they've gone above and beyond to make sure everything runs smoothly on the day-of. You can't beat the price for the beauty you get with this venue. I highly recommend! -

We had our wedding at the Tulip Grove Mansion, at the Hermitage. It was so beautiful! The price was reasonable and the location is convenient for downtown Nashville and the airport for out of town guest. They were so easy to work with, and the staff is amazing! Bonnie and Ben were both amazing! Ben set up our event and was so nice and willing to help. Bonnie helped out on the day of the wedding! She was amazing! Helped with what ever we needed and she was so sweet! We loved that our wedding was at a historic venue and we loved the old southern charm tulip grove had! Have your wedding here!!!! -

It was hot (no AC back in the days of Andrew Jackson) but the staff was amazing, the venue and grounds were gorgeous, the day could not have been more perfect or beautiful. I would definitely recommend getting married there for anyone that is looking for a really cool venue with lots of charm and beauty! Thanks everyone at the Hermitage who made my day so amazing! -

I had my reception at The Hermitage under a white tent behind the Tulip Grove Mansion. Everything was beautiful! The staff was great and easy to work with throughout my planning! The grounds are fabulous, and I would recommend this venue 100 times over! -

From the first e-mail until the final goodbye this experience has been amazing! Samantha and her staff were always so helpful and gracious. We opted to include a tour of the mansion for our guest between the ceremony and the reception. My daughter was married in the church on the property and the reception was at The Cabin By the Springs. -

My wedding was nothing short of amazing. All of my guests loved the venue. Sam and her staff were so great to work with and made sure everything went smoothly. Sam was always quick to answer emails and any questions I had about the property. Sue, the event manager, went above and beyond her duties to ensure that everything was taken care of on the day of. The whole Hermitage staff is wonderful and I highly recommend having a wedding here if you are looking for a gorgeous historic venue with superb customer service. -

Beautiful and historic location for an outdoor wedding. Staff was responsive and coordinated well on our wedding day. Only issue was that the area was still publicly accessible and some people walked around reception. Other than that I would recommend this location to anyone looking for a pretty venue. -

The Hermitage was a gorgeous venue for our April wedding. The staff was extremely courteous and helpful. Our attendant for the ceremony and reception went above and beyond what was expected to make sure that the day went as smooth as possible. We would highly recommend this site to anyone who is looking for a beautiful ceremony or reception location that is steeped in history! -

When Rachel and Kenneth decided they wanted an outside venue for their wedding I went into panic mode... Being an event planner for 20 years I knew the risk and logistical issues that could potentially arise. After site visits to numerous places we settled into Tulip Grove Mansion. Samantha Spector, The Hermitage Event Coordinator; Sue Pate The Hermitage Hostess and The Hermitage Grounds Crew were amazing!! Samantha was easy to communicate with through numerous emails, phone calls and site visits making Rachel & Kenneth's Wedding Day fabulous. The grounds crew busied themselves by painting, mowing and uncovering a beautiful garden area behind Tulip Grove Mansion where Rachel & Kenneth held their ceremony. Ms. Pate was on site for the rehearsal and ceremony/reception and helped us with set up. Ms. Pate was so knowable about the grounds and was able to give a brief history to each curious guest. At the end of the day I felt like I was able to host my daughter’s wedding at my own home. The old house rejoiced with us in the happiness and beauty of that day. Thanks again, to The Staff of The Hermitage. You guys were wonderful! -

We had a beautiful reheardsal dinner by the Cabin-by-the-Spring at the Hermitage. Linda was great to work with--very responsive and professional. The price to rent the cabin was very good, though the catering prices seemed high (although quite typical for catering). The location was beautiful and the food was quite good! -

I loved the Hermitage as a venue. We rented Rachel's Chapel for our ceremony and Tulip Grove for our reception. Both are beautiful and require minimal decoration. I also hired their event coordinator, Bonnie, and she and her team were worth every penny. I handed it over to them on my wedding day and was free to enjoy the rest worry-free. The only reason that flexibility was down a half-point is because it is a historic site and there are just some things you can't do in order to preserve the integrity of the site. However, the staff was flexible and helpful. Very few brides can say that everything went perfectly, but I can and a lot of that is thanks to the Hermitage and the staff. -

I would recommend this venue for both the ceremony and the reception. Ben was great to work with and he answered all my questions and emails in a timely manner. He was willing to help in anyway possible and helped to make my daughters wedding special. We used the Church at Tulip Grove Mansion and had the reception at The Cabin by the Springs. If you are looking for a venue that is beautiful check them out you will not be disappointed. -

It was great to work with Linda. She helped me plan everything. They do have strict rules about things, but as long as you understand them and work with them you will do well. They do have their own caterer and if you choose not to use them it will cost you $5/head. Their caterer had to provide the alcohol, but other than that I found them quite flexible. Linda was always accessible. She helped me by allowing several site visits and setting up joint meetings with the rental company for the tent. When it rained the whole week of my wedding, Linda was there to give me ideas and help me make it all work out despite the rain! It was beautiful and I could not have found a better place to have my ceremony and reception. -

We fell in love with the Hermitage the minute we drove through the beautiful tree lined drive. The staff was helpful and friendly, very responsive, and helped to make our event beautiful and special. We had an outdoor ceremony and a reception at the Cabin by the Spring. They provide some tables and chairs which is helpful for your budget that you won't have to rent everything. There are some limitations as far as decorating since it is a historic building, but we still were able to decorate the way we wanted to. My only gripe is that they require you to use Liberty Party Rentals. It would be nice to have some broader options in selecting a rental vendor. We ended up buying our own linens, and candle holders because liberty rentals was expensive. However, I wouldn't let this hold you back from booking your wedding here. It was a beautiful day we'll never forget, just keep in mind that you'll have to use Liberty for rentals. -

We used the Cabin by the Spring on The Hermitage grounds for our reception (our wedding was at The Hindu Temple) and we were looking for rustic, Southern charm, and that’s what we got. And for a great price. The tables and chairs are included with this place and our guest count was pushing their limit, but it’s a great location for 120 guests or less. They have a day-of representative there who is there to make sure everything that you requested is there and good to go and our guests were amazed at the charm and uniqueness of the locale. Because it is a historic location, they are not very flexible about what they allow/what you can do on the premises, but it’s not constricting. They want you to respect the space, and you have more than enough options within what you’re allowed to do. -

The Hermitage is a beautiful place to have your wedding. The staff is very helpful, however since it is a historic site there are several rules that you have to follow. Overall, it is a great place to get married, and since there is so much charm at each of the sites you can hold your ceremony and reception, there is not a need for a lot of decorations, which saves money! I got so many complements on the venue and the pictures turn out beautiful! -

Wonderful location to have reception! We were in constant contact with Sam, who coordinates the events at the Hermitage. She was very helpful in making sure we had everything we needed to have a very smooth day. The hostess at the Hermitage was very nice and helpful. We had a horse drawn carriage take guests back to the reception site. They really enjoyed that. Great place for a reception with a rustic feel! -

My score is kind of low however, I really enjoyed having my wedding at the Hermitage. The ceremony was held in the old historic church on the property. It is small but can accommodate a lot of people. There is not any heat or air conditioning in the church so be careful if you are planning a summer wedding.
My ceremony was held a the Tulip Grove Mansion in the Hermitage property. It is a beautiful old mansion. It is not in pristine condition but it is still beautiful and does not require any decorations except the table center pieces. There is also no air conditioning so be cautious if you are planning a summer wedding.
Since this is a historic property there is a lot of rules to follow. Most of the rules are reasonable and designed to protect the property. We did run into issues when we scheduled visits to the site for planning and the rehearsal. We had to wait a long time for someone to unlock the doors so we could get it. I think it was a communication issue on their part.
My wedding and reception was beautiful and fun. If I had to do it over again I would still choose to have it at the Hermitage and Tulip Grove. -

If there was a setting option, it would have increased the star score. My main complaint would be the alcohol and the "customer service". I was allowed 2 entries to The Hermitage for photo sessions and each time I came the woman at the ticket office sighed and rolled her eyes at me. I think if I am paying ridiculous amounts of money to have my wedding there, they could at least fake a smile. In addition, alcohol is only allowed to be provided by The Hermitage. We asked for a quote at the beginning of our planning and the number of people that we thought would be there did not change. We were given one number at that time and then 2 weeks before the wedding, the bar tender told us it was going to be $1500 MORE than the original quote. Ridiculous! And getting in touch with the bartender was an obstacle in itself. She would return emails weeks after the initial email and rarely answered her phone. Overall, I would say strongly consider other options before choosing The Hermitage. -

The location was beautiful, but they made it very difficult to have an event there. They were very inflexible and I spent most of my energy trying to find ways to have the wedding I wanted while still working around their restrictions. Even though it is an important historical site, and certain safty percautions have to be respected, I feel they financially take advantage of the people who plan weddings there.
For example, I was required to use their cafe on site for my catering (unless I wanted to pay an additional $5 a head) and I felt the menu they offered was similar to that of Cracker Barrel, which is fine if you are paying Cracker Barrel prices. Garden Gate's prices, however, were that of an upscale restaurant.
In addition to that, I had no choice but to use Garden Gate for my bar. Once again, the price was not reflective of the quality. Not only was I forced to pay upscale restaurant prices for cheap wine, but she came unprepared for my number of guests and she had a TIP JAR at the bar! This infuriated me! In addition to the gratuity being added the bill, they were asking my guests to tip as well!
Finally, the representative from the Hermitage who was required to be there to assist and oversee the event failed to show my guests where the restroom was when there was confusion! Instead of assisting my guests and pointing them in the right direction, she allowed them to walk back and forth to the visitor's center in the cold rain.
If this wasn't embarrassing enough, she ate the food that the caterer (who I brought in personally and paid for) set aside for my husband and I!!
Although, I will always have fond memories of my wedding day, the Hermitage employees and the Garden Gate Cafe will never be part of them. I have nothing good to say.

The people at The Hermitage cannot keep their employees long enough to actually be helpful. We signed a contract (3 months before our wedding) with one woman and then about a month later ended up working with a seperate person for the actual event. They promised many things and didn't deliver on any of them. They basically tell you whatever you want to hear to get your money. My husband was so upset the day of the wedding he wanted to leave and go somewhere else to get married. For the price ($3000 for a garden wedding & lobby reception) all you get is a pretty place no help, no customer service, and no peace of mind. The whole process was VERY STRESSFUL which is not what you want on your wedding day. The Hermitage Garden was beautiful but other than that we were not happy with anything. I would not reccommend them to anyone.
