Robby and the Spotlight Orchestra are an absolute wedding band dream come true. Robby himself is extremely approachable, professional, and above all, deeply passionate about his work. He goes above and beyond to make sure the wedding day is PERFECT, not only for the bride and groom, but also for their respective families. Listening to music is such a personal experience in everyday life; as such, wedding-day music should encapsulate the personal taste of the married couple in a way that is unique to them, in a manner than tells their story. Mine and husband’s stories were so multifaceted, that we didn’t believe that we could find someone who would be able to play all the genres of music we were hoping to hear on our special night. We were looking for someone who knew traditional Jewish music, Israeli music, American Music, Latin music, and Persian music. How EVER were we to find a single human being who would be able to play all the above? Luckily, my husband’s mother heard about Robby and his band through the grape vine, and relayed that he can do “anything your heart desires.” Being the realist I am, I didn’t think that was possible. Robby proved me wrong. Not only did he and the band personally play Jewish, Israeli, American, and Latin music, but he personally tracked down a Persian singer to appeal to my large Persian family. (The Persian singer fit into the band, as if authentically part of it for years. Also, I am convinced that Robby could have learned Persian/Farsi himself if we had asked I’m to, but he wanted to make sure that we had the authentic Persian experience… and he delivered). Robby and the band played multiple components of our wedding - the ceremony, the two cocktail hours, and a VERY long reception with a first-dance that lasted over 2 hours. He and the band were playing nearly straight from 4pm until 11:45pm without skipping a beat. The band played every song with the same energy, enthusiasm, and TALENT then the last. I am truly impressed at the amount of excitement that Robby was able to elicit from the guests. My husband, I, and our families had the night of our lives and it is TRULY thanks to Robby. We feel indebted to him for making our day so amazing. We cannot wait for our next celebration with Robby!!

Rob Helperin is the bandleader for Spotlight Music, and he runs everything from a chamber music ensemble for a ceremony, a jazz quartet for cocktails and a full-on 12-piece orchestra with singer(s) for a rock & roll party. The best part is he works extensively with the clients (our son and his bride) to come up with a play list, work out entrances and exits, and can serve as the charming and sophisticated MC throughout the evening's festivities. Robby and his team have done many weddings we have been to, so we knew we had to use them! Robby is a fast learner so he takes what you're looking for and what you want, inserts his expertise, and puts together the perfect band and playlist for your wedding. He is also a great emcee for your event. He won't take up too much of your time in the planning process. It will make you feel like something is missing because he really doesn't need much time to figure out exactly what you want and how everything is going to go down. So easy to work with and not a headache at all. You pay for what you get, so you won't find any deals with Robby. He is straightforward with his price and that's that. Worth every penny and the value was there! We love him and recommend him to ALL of our friends looking for a band!

Bride: When we met at first, we said we wanted a classy, fancy wedding that felt comfortable and haimish. And that's exactly what people said it was. Everyone said it was the most fun, joyous wedding they'd been to! And you're to thank for most of it. The musicians were amazing and perfect. And Jake is the best. Seriously, it was exactly what we were looking for and what we didn't even know we wanted. Thanks so much for giving us, our families, and our friends an amazing memory of our wedding.

Groom: You have a gem in Jake, who rolled with everything and facilitated an amazing party (even with the Frisbee and the karaoke). People of every generation had something to dance to, the obligatory parts went smoothly, and Jake's just the nicest dude. We can't thank you, the musicians, and Jake enough for your part in as perfect a night as we could have asked for.

I can't say enough good things about Spotlight Music. To my husband and I, the most important thing about our wedding was the music-- we wanted an awesome live band. We live in LA but got married in Hawaii, so unfortunately even with a wedding planner the music options seemed slim. I found Robby at Spotlight music in LA and he coordinated an entire band for me, even flew musicians out from different islands to get the right fit. The band was AMAZING!! Definitely made our whole wedding. We wanted fun lively music, contemporary and some oldies, and they NAILED it, people were dancing the entire time. They even took requests and learned a song for our first dance, which was awesome, AND they backed me up to perfection while I sang "At Last" to my new husband! To top it off, they improved a hilarious fun song for my 1-year-old niece to bop around to. It was like having good friends (talented friends) play at your wedding. SO accommodating!!!!
While we didn't have Robby's LA band play for us, we've seen videos and they are just AMAZING. So whether you're in LA or abroad, you can't go wrong with Spotlight Music. They do it all, and with a smile and an energy that is simply infectious. They will absolutely make your next event.

We had a fantastic experience working with Robby on our wedding band. He listened to our requests in terms of type of band/instruments and what kind of music we wanted to play and followed through on all of it. He also suggested specific songs that worked out really well. When we had requests on ceremony/dance songs he made sure his band was ready to play them. Overall the band was terrific - we had everyone up and dancing all night long!
