Vintage Theater Wedding

Kat, on March 11, 2012 at 6:43 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 11

Hey guys! I'm having a vintage/Old Hollywood Glamour themed wedding in a small movie theater on June 1st. We have lots of ideas as far as decor goes, but I'm looking for more. If anyone has any ideas or thoughts on decor, I'd love to hear them!

Just remember: The theater is entirely red (walls, floor, seats), so our colors are red, gold, and ivory. I don't need a lot of flowers necessarily, but anything in lieu of flowers would work. Anything is bling or feathers, or anything that stands out against the bold color would fit. Also, we have a large screen that we'll be standing in front of, but we're not sure what to put on it/use to keep from having suck a large empty space. Once again, the theme is Old Hollywood Glamour--that means 1950's, not 1920's, or any other era (although I may blend and throw in some things if I really love it--I just don't want to say Old Hollywood and end up with 9 different decades). Smiley winking

Thanks guys!!

Make a video of the two of you to play on the screen while the guests are being seated?

I wanted to do that, but it's actual film, and I don't know if we can do it, find anywhere to do it, or afford it if we can! But it would be cool to do, that's for sure.

Depending on the colour of your BM's dresses, either black or red feather bouquets would be great

Make your ushers wear the old theater usher uniforms with the little hats cocked to the side

If its in your budget, what about having cups of soda with straws for when guests walk in? Also, what about using instrumental music playing, it will help set the tone for your wedding. I wish we would have had a wedding like this!

You could also use glass bowls full of popcorn as decor also. Good luck!

You could set up a red carpet for your guest to take pictures on going into the wedding. I bet you could talk to your photographer about that. Another option is have an area set up to look like a set from an older show...idk singing in the rain or wizard of oz, for example, for guest to take pics on just like a photo booth. You could do so much cool stuff with this!

See if you'd be allowed to throw gold glitter as you two are leaving...gold glitter always seems old Hollywood to me Smiley smile

Red Velvet Ropes with an usher dressed similar to what Rachel has above to escort guests to the ceremony seats.

    Feathers!!

Drive up in an old car that old Hollywood actresses would arrive in.

Send out STD ticket stubs (see photo below)

Use old Hollywood Actors are your table numbers (see photo below)

Word your invites as though guests are invited to a premier (see photo below)

Use small red and white bags of popcorn as escort cards

Have an old time candy...candy bar

    Have a popcorn bar

Include old film reels (if you can find any) in your decoration or as part of your centerpieces

Make a 'star' for the walk of fame for you and your FH and place them on the backs of your chairs as Mr and Mrs at the reception

Make 'stars' that look like walk of fame stars as escort cards

I'll keep looking for other ideas too...
