NWR: Having fun telling him the BIG news! Think I've decided!

I posted a while ago looking for a great way to tell my husband when the time comes that I'm pregnant. NO I'm NOT preggers now, but we'll be trying when he gets home so I need to have the method of telling him ready cause I won't be able to wait long when I find out. I've been driving myself so nuts with ideas, like the proposal you only get 1 chance and it's a story we'll tell our grandkids! We have a pug dog who is very special in our lives.He knows all kinds of tricks like I point my finger at him and say "bang you're dead" and he falls to the ground.I think it's time he learned a new trick!After I find out I'm pregnant and my husband comes home from work I'll tell him I taught our pug a new trick and want to show him. First I'll take the dog through his usual routines,then I'll say "where's the baby?" and the dog will sniff my tummy and lay his paw on it!! I've already started training him and so far it's going great! This will work for telling the grandparents too!!

Thats really cute! I didnt have time to come up with a cute way to tell FH I was pregnant, a few weeks after my 21st birthday I was meeting him for dinner. He happened to be driving on his motorcycle behind me, and said that I was swerving and started to yell at me for drunk driving. I said I cant possibly be drinking and driving, and he said why not you have been going out to bars almost everyday afterwork (so not true, but not the point) and I said well Kurt, thats because I'm pregnant! He didnt say ANYTHING for like 5 minutes... oh memories!

well we go engaged on the beach at sunset, we're a nice bike ride from the beach lol so it will be easy for me :] but it we were far from there, i might have to think about getting and training a dog haha

Sarah, I have a whole long list of ideas if you need any! LOL like I said, I've been driving myself nuts trying to settle on one idea...when I thought of this one I teared up so I knew it was the right one....now that the dog is actually learning the trick I feel great about it...he's getting old, 8 years, and you know what they say about old dogs and new tricks!

Laura that idea is wonderful. I agree focusing on that does take your mind off ttc. Ive been racking my brains trying to decide how I will tell FH since I know I wont be able to keep it a secret once we finally are.

Those are great ideas. FH and I have been trying to get pregnant for a while w/no luck I am all out of ideas. We have a 6 yr old and I don't want my son to be 10 when I am having another baby. So I have given my self until I am 27 to get pregnant. Then after that I am going to have my tubes tied. Laura, that's a great idea!!!! enjoy the dog training & ur hubby will be home sooner than you realize... thinking of you always!!! I can't wait to start trying to make babies.. ya'll have such great ideas! i found out at a friends house...i have been known for buying HPT's to get a BFN...so when i got the BFP, i swore it was wrong, and took it outside to our friend's nurse, and they both said it's positive..so i walked outside, and fh kept asking what's wrong, and i tried to get this really pissy voice, saying "we need to talk NOW"...we were already leaving, but we were bs'ing with our boy out back. so he gets this wierd look and his face, and steve's like, maybe ya'll should leave, she looks pissed and crazy with that smile on her face...so chris turned around, and goes "she aint pissed, i know that sht eatin grin, she's effin* pregnant"...rofl!!! he wasn't angry about it or anything, he was just showing me up! lol, he did it good too, i didn't even realize i was smiling!!!

since there seems to be some interest in some of the ways to do this I might as well post the list here. Obviously the BEST thing to do is something unique to you as a couple. That's part of why my dog will be in it, he's been a HUGE part of our relationship. There are a ton of ideas out there if you google it but here are some that were on my list of possibilities. *Order Chinese for dinner and have his fortune cookie read "In 9 months time you will be a Daddy!" those are good laura! fh wasn't with me, when i had it "confirmed" we were having a boy(we really didn't consider the "option" of having a girl rofl!)...so i bought a pj set that said "all american boy", and it kinda tied in with daddy being a former sailor and such ;).....you could always tie in your dog and the keepsake! get a keepsake doggy tag, that says "big brother" lol!!!! that'd definitely get the ball rolling a little bit! and i like the "where's the baby" game?!!!1

* Put a dish of pink and blue M&Ms that read "We're PREGNANT" and "Daddy 2 B" in front of him. watch him eat them until he notices the messages and get it! * Hang baby booties from his rear view mirror and let him find them * Buy a special onesie and give it to him as a gift, I almost got one that said "My big brother is a pug" LOL Some people get one with his favorite sports team on it * My DH is a BIG coffee drinker so I was going to serve him his morning coffee in a "Daddy to Be" coffee mug *I've always said I HATE when people grab pregnant womens' bellies so I was going to get a t-shirt that reads "hand off the belly!" and wear it and let him notice it and figure it out... I'll have to remember some of the other ones. Like I said, there are a lot out there but these were perfect for us for inside jokes, etc....

oh and the pug is doing so good!!! I'll have to keep practicing with him whenever the hubs isn't around....Now I just need to get pregnant LOL yeah this is one of the perks of planning a conception, I get to plan the surprise of telling him the news too! That's why I want to take advantage and return the favor he did of making a special proposal for me! But really we all know that ANYWAY that you tell him or find out together it will be something you'll always remember. these are just fun bonuses!
