Bridesmaids...Opinions?

So my hubby and I were thinking and we decided that, since we were having such a large bridal party that we would make a kind of spectrum out of it, with each of the bridesmaids wearing a different colored dress and their corresponding groomsmen matching with their ties and boutinnieres. I made a little image of the colors I want my maids to wear and was hoping for some opinions. The dresses in the picture are courtesy of Davids Bridal.

Honestly, rainbow = gay pride to me. I love rainbows, but that's what I think when I see them.
I would pick one or two colors and use different shades of those.

I think all of the colors are pretty and if you want to do the rainbow effect, go for it. However, I think matching ties and boutonnieres will be a bit too much. The bridesmaids' dresses would stand out much more if you kept the groomsmen in all black, or black vest and ties with a white dress shirt and a white rose boutonniere (or whichever flower you choose). Also, make sure you consider the general 'feel' of your wedding. The rainbow effect on shorter dresses definitely seems more casual and fun-loving. They would be perfect for a park ceremony, but maybe too much for a church. Just a suggestion though :)

I think it sounds like a great idea and I love the idea of the matching ties.
The only thing I would say, is to keep the tone of the colors all the same. Meaning, I would either go with all brights or all lights. You don't want one BM in the bright orange (2nd from left) while another is in the light pink (5th from left). They should either all wear bright colors or all ear more muted colors. Does that make sense?

I see what Consonance means, I tend to think that when I see rainbows too but that could be since I was from Philly and gay pride stuff is fairly prevalent around there.....honestly I'm not a full on RAINBOW fan but I love when someone steps outside of the matchy matchy stuff.....I think it would work better if you did varying shades of a color or did different colors within the same family, not an actual rainbow. But its your wedding so if rainbows make you happy and it's what you want then go for it.....

I have no problem with gay pride, because I am not closed minded and have lots of gay friends. And since its me and my husband, I'm pretty sure they would know it wasn't gay pride. -smiley face-
And about the ties and boutinnieres. I like them matching because I like everything to be rather symmetrical. That's a little something I am OCD about. Haha. Besides, I will be wearing a white dress with a black accent of some kind [hopefully], and my husband will wear a black tux with a white boutinniere. We want to be the individuals in our wedding.
Also, I have eleven bridesmaids, so they light and dark purples and pinks and blues and greens is so that they could all be wearing a different color(and because I hate brown and didn't want to incorporate it. haha.).

We have thought about maybe doing various shades of autumn colors, too. Or cool colors. But we are trying to make it so no one repeats a color. We do have quite a few bridesmaids. Haha.

11 Bridesmaids? WOW! I don't even have 11 close friends. Not saying that to knock you, I'm impressed. :)

Hehe. Together we have four sisters, all of which I am incredibly close with and love very much, a future sister in law who i love dearly, and six very close friends. I couldn't choose between them all, so I just said, 'Heck I want them all!' It was hard finding eleven groomsmen. My husband isn't as social as I am. And we have three flower girls. Haha!

My future mother in law did that same thing when she got married and has told me that she reqrets it but it was in style then, but if its something you want to do go for it. You could also just go with one color and do different shades of it.

If you like the rainbow idea - you should go with it. If you are looking for opinions - I would prefer something a little more subdued. Maybe pick a couple of colors and just do varying shades of those colors???

I prefer the various shades of a few colors (e.g., blues and greens; blues and purples, yellows/oranges/reds) versus the entire rainbow of colors. Otherwise the suggestion of having the same tones of colors (muted or pastels versus bolds and jewel tones) is a good one.
