Great hotel. We booked rooms here for our guests to stay in for the wedding and also had our rehearsal dinner here as well. The food was great and the service was amazing!
This is a hard review to write because our experience started out HORRIFIC. We even tried to change our plans for our 80ish person rehearsal dinner and 35 room multi-night block. In the beginning they changed management multiple times, but each time the person we were directed to was unresponsive and unorganized. They had wrong information, never answered the phone or emails, and seemed to generally not care.
However, luckily in the last month or so it seems that they finally hired the right people. Kathy Mendez was professional and patient with our frustration and we decided to stay. They hired a new catering manager Jacki right before our event so I can't comment too much on her but the short time we worked with her was a relief after everyone we had to deal with before her.
I do need to mention that we worked with Mansy on the day of our rehearsal dinner and he was AMAZING. Very accommodating and professional.
Hopefully the new team sticks around. I would say the end results were exactly what we were looking for I just wish we didn't have to deal with all the frustration to get there.
So this is a tough one to write. I'm the bride and no one wants to admit that their wedding wasn't perfect. The wedding day itself was beautiful. The room was elegant and the service and food that night was great. However, if I could do it all over again I wouldn't pick here. The whole process was so difficult because the team of people that work here are unresponsive, and unprofessional. I had numerous guests call to tell me that they couldn't make a room reservation because no one would pick up the phone. We were promised certain specific alcohol behind the bar that wasn't there, and overall it just just more of a headache than anything to deal with them. All of the previous reviews mention how wonderful Steve is. He was, as he was the sales manager when we first booked our wedding. He left half way through the process and we were left with an unorganized mess of a staff that just didn't make me feel like my day was important to them in any way. So, in a nut shell, the day itself was beautiful and any small errors on their part would never have been noticeable to my guests, however the staff that works there is just incompetent.
Booked our wedding at this place in 2012. Promised us renovations to venue would be done both to hotel and space prior to our wedding. Original manager left and new manager took over. Promises she made were not promises kept by new manager. We eventually moved wedding to another venue due to inability to work with us and even lost over $3000 to all the broken promises and problems. Somerset Hills Hotel is owned by a corporation who cares nothing about the client. Look elsewhere
Steve at Somerset Hills Hotel was such a pleasure to work with. He was in constant contact with us during the months leading up to the wedding and was able to meet with us in the evenings anytime we wanted to discuss things.
They set up the cocktail hour inside the restaurant area and on the deck outside and there was so much food! We also had a separate cocktail hour for the bridal party and our personal waitress who brought us food - I can't remember her name, but she was fabulous and so attentive. The room itself looked great, the service was fantastic and Steve was there throughout the night making sure we had everything we needed.
We received so many compliments on the food, everyone really enjoyed everything. After the wedding, the guests went to their rooms to change and headed back down to the bar. It was great having everything all in one place. The morning after they set aside a part of the restaurant for our guests to have breakfast together.
Overall, I would highly recommend SHH. The staff is attentive, professional and very accommodating. The service and food were excellent.
Somerset Hills Hotel (SHH) was fantastic! The staff was friendly, responsive and knowledgeable. We got married in October on the day of that freak snow storm. The hotel lost power and had to postpone our wedding until the next day. I was so thankful that we were even able to have the wedding the next day (some brides' weddings at other venues were canceled entirely!). It was stressful postponing the wedding for the next day and guests having trouble in the snow, but the staff did a fantastic job of not only making everything beautiful and effortless but were happy and upbeat despite the circumstances. We are so happy we had our wedding at SHH and we would recommend it to anyone and everyone!
We had so many compliments on the service. We didn't have to worry about a thing. They set up beautiful and were very professional. They made our dreams come true. I would highly recommend!! They even had a private brunch for us the next morning for guests who stayed at the hotel. They used our flowers from the night before. A real special event
They made me the center of attention. Everything was just perfect!! I always dreamed what my wedding day would be like and they all my dreams come true!
