The Living Harp

Karlinda Caldicott, harpist

Karlinda provides beautiful, elegant harp music for your wedding ceremony, cocktail hour and/or reception.  She performs as a solo harpist or as part of an ensemble such as flute and harp, violin and harp, flute, cello and harp, or violin, cello and harp.

Karlinda offers a wide variety of musical styles, from classical to Celtic to love songs & showtunes to Enya/meditative/new age, plus an assortment of beautiful original harp music by talented harpists from many regions.

Karlinda plays both the pedal harp (a smaller version of what you might see in a symphony orchestra) and the lever harp (often called a Celtic harp, smaller and more portable - see picture of Renaissance wedding below).

About Karlinda

Principal Harpist with the Catskill and Schenectady Symphony Orchestras and a former Principal Harpist with the Albany Symphony Orchestra, Karlinda periodically appears as a soloist with various orchestras and choral groups, as well as in chamber music concerts and solo harp concerts. She has toured in Europe with the New York Harp Ensemble and in the U.S. with flutist Jan Vinci in their duo, Iridescence. Karlinda has performed in pit or pickup orchestras for famous artists such as George Benson, Josh Groban and Clay Aiken, and for touring musicals such as Michael York’s Camelot and Cathy Rigby’s Peter Pan.

In addition to her busy orchestral performance schedule, Karlinda has been playing for weddings since 1980, and truly enjoys enhancing this important moment in your life with her beautiful harp music.

Karlinda is adjunct harp instructor at Hartwick College, SUNY College at Oneonta, and The College of Saint Rose, and also teaches several harp students privately throughout the region.

What services do you provide?

The Wedding Ceremony:
- up to 30 minutes of prelude music as the guests are being seated,
- processional(s) for the bridal party and bride
- music during the ceremony (if requested) - this is usually a special selection for a certain point in the ceremony
- recessional for bridal party at end of ceremony
- a few more pieces of music as guests are leaving the ceremony site

The Receiving Line:  Music for the receiving line is included for smaller weddings (usually less than 100 people attending).  There is an additional charge for larger weddings.  Please note that at some venues it might not be logistically feasible to have harp music during the receiving line.

Cocktail Hour:
- an hour of a delightful mix of music for your guests as they relax and unwind after your beautiful ceremony

Reception Music:
- This usually works best for smaller weddings where dancing is not expected.  However, it's also possible to have harp music during the dinner portion of larger weddings, followed by a band or DJ for more lively post-dinner dancing.

Other Wedding-Related Events:
- Harp music can add a lovely touch to a bridal shower, engagement party, rehearsal dinner, or baby shower!

The Hiring Process
A signed contract and 50% deposit is required before I can be considered officially hired.  Balance payment is due 10 business days before the event.
