I’ve been a professional photographer for around 12 years now and since moving to Chicago in 2005 most of my assignments have been weddings. please press the ’play’ button below



I started out doing production photography aboard passenger cruise ships and then went on to do TV set & theater work on land before moving back to the UK where I worked for 5 years at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre Company in Stratford-upon-Avon.

While I was there I photographed many wonderful productions starring some of the finest actors from Britain & the US. I also worked as a principal photographer on the ’Royal Rota’ assigned to Prince Charles.
Since moving to Chicago I have continued to do theatrical production work as well as working for the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs.

This theatrical work was invaluable training for wedding photography. I learned the importance of anticipating ‘the moment’ and recognizing the best opportunities for capturing images that would represent the emotional core of the relationship. I also learned the value of understanding the impact good lighting has in a picture, how it can contribute to, or destroy the ‘Drama’ as it is recorded.

Most importantly theater and wedding photography give me the opportunity to capture people looking wonderful, while giving unforgettable performances.

How do you identify your primary photographic style? Photojournalistic style with just a hint of tradition!

Please describe any special techniques you offer: Can perform a variety of post processing tasks including photo retouching, album creation, video creation etc.

Which lighting situations do you have experience with? Great deal of experience with all types of lighting and environments

Do you have a media preference? Digital

How many photographers do you work with? I work alone or with a second shooter when requested

Do you guarantee your presence at the actual event? Yes

Do you sometimes book yourself for more than one wedding in a day? One Wedding Per Day Only.

What kind of equipment do you typically bring with you on the day-of? 2 Cameras Good selection of lenses Extensive Flash Equipment (3 or 4 Flash Units, Stands, Remote Transcievers, Bounces, Filters etc.) 30 GB storage Lots of spare battery back-up.

Do you bring back-up equipment to the event in case of malfunction? Yes, your wedding will be covered even in the event some equipment fails

Do you charge hourly or full day? $1100 for the first 10 hours. $120 p/h thereafter

Do you require a meal break? If yes, do you require that the wedding party provide your meal? The wedding party can provide a meal or I will need to take a 45 minute meal break

Do you charge for travel? Travel charges apply beyond a 100 mile day (round-trip from Oak Park Il)

How soon after the event are the proofs ready for viewing? DVD is usually delivered within 1 week

In what format are the initial proofs offered? After the pictures have been edited & corrected the couple receive the digital negatives which they then own

Do you retain the copyright for the photos? Yes

Do you reserve the right to publish the photos? Yes with the permission of the Bride & Groom if they are featured in the picture

Do you provide the digital files and/or negatives (or copies of the negatives) to the couple? Yes

Will images be available for viewing on an online gallery? Images are made available online for viewing for a 4 month period after the wedding.

What kind of albums do you offer? I offer Graphi-Studio hand made & printed albums. Please contact me for details

When will I get the final book? 2 - 4 months is normal

How long does it take to deliver a book? Depends entirely on the individual book.

Additional Questions and Answers

There is lots of good advice out there that I don’t need to repeat here, but my one recommendation to any prospective client is COMMUNICATE.
Don’t be afraid to share thoughts, ideas, concerns etc. with your photographer. This means in the time leading up to the wedding and on the day itself.

If you have a question, ASK IT. A good photographer will want to do the best possible job for you and will need all the help you can give to ensure that happens. Photographers are not mind readers and they may occassionally forget something during the frantic activity of the day. You will get the very best out of your photographer if you keep talking with them throughout the day and if you want a particular shot taken at any time - Say So!

Oh and one more thing.. Have FUN - the happier you are, the better your pictures will look.
