Vintage, retro-glam Old Hollywood style: sophisticated live music for California weddings and events…

Jazz singer and bandleader Judy Chamberlain’s unique live music boutique provides extraordinary live music, bands and musicians for one-of-a-kind weddings, parties, concerts and special events.

Everything we do is “bespoke,” customized to give you exactly what we know you want: the most exciting, meaningful and memorable wedding or event anyone you know has ever attended.

Live Music for Wow Factor Weddings and Events…

From classical wedding ceremony music to vintage jazz, pop, ballroom and swing, Old Hollywood retro-glam, R&B, Latin, soul, funk and disco for dancing, we really DO do it all - sometimes in the same set. Because the styles of music we perform are so diverse and we play them so well, our product is unique and not easily duplicated.

We’re hard to define, and are prepared to switch gears in an instant. When people are dancing, we play continuous music, segueing from one song to the next seamlessly. DJ’s think they invented that trick, and it’s something that not many bands can do. We know thousands of songs from memory and don’t have to slow down to turn pages in a book.

Our collective repertoire is literally endless, which makes us very versatile and flexible. We are experts at “reading” a crowd.

Styles of music we play include pop, jazz, swing, deco, ballroom, big band, standards, oldies rock & roll, doo-wop, mid-century moderne, Rat Pack, R&B, Motown, soul, funk and reggae.

You’ve seen and heard many of our musicians on TV shows, movie soundtracks and your favorite albums for years. They have played and recorded with Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Rosemary Clooney, Ray Charles, Tony Bennett, The Temptations, Gladys Knight, Donna Summer, Marvin Gaye, The Isley Brothers, Herbie Hancock, Paul McCartney, Natalie Cole, Barbra Streisand,  Diana Krall and Michael Buble, to name just a few.

Guests at weddings and corporate events often tell us they thought they were listening to a CD until they made their way through the ballroom, looked up at the stage and realized it was a live band.

“Judy Chamberlain is an incredible jazz singer, and I say that as someone who hates jazz utterly and completely.” Rebecca Schoenkopf, O.C. Weekly

A native New Yorker who moved to California in 1980, Los Angeles-based restaurant critic, columnist, broadcast media personality, music historian and singer/bandleader Judy Chamberlain has been featured on E! Entertainment, The Style Network, ABC’s “The Bachelor” and written about extensively by the mainstream music press, Chamberlain is known for her versatility and the ability to switch gears in an instant to take requests from the floor, play to the crowd and lay down “continuous music” without missing a beat. She's performed in the Playboy Jazz Festival and was named "one of the top jazz singers of all time" by author Scott Yanow. From the Roaring Twenties to the Rat Pack, ballroom to blues, R&B, funk, jazz, swing and Motown, nobody does live vintage music better.

"You're just like the 'old man,' cookie." Al Viola

The late guitarist Al Viola, a beloved longtime musical collaborator of Chamberlain’s who was on every album Frank Sinatra recorded from 1955 to 1983 often compared her to Sinatra, saying: “Judy takes care of business, and sings the hell out of a tune, the way he did. She can take the pickup on a song because she gives the right signals so that the band is instantly with her — and she knows exactly what the audience wants to hear. She has an enormous repertoire and she knows how to use it.”

"I love working with her, because I’m never bored. She hears every note, just like Sinatra did. You have to be the best in the business to work at her level. You have to know what you’re doing!”

We are always delighted to hear your ideas, and consider it an honor and privilege to be there for you every step of the way as your vision becomes a reality.

Endorsements
Judy is fabulous! Such an amazing, full-of-life entertainer. Never a dull moment with her at your reception!
For any Bride and Groom reading this endorsement: I am Rev. Michael, and over the past decade I have Officiate thousands of Wedding Ceremonies, and without a doubt the most memorable and enjoyable Ceremony I ever Officiated used Judy Chamberlain and her ensemble for both their Ceremony and their reception. Versus disk jockeys and string quartets, Judy outshines them all. She offers all types of music from rock to swing. After the Ceremony, I heard so many compliments from the guests as to what a treat it was not to have the typical disk jockey music. The Bride also told me how Judy gave she and her husband to be so many tips and guidance to make their Ceremony and reception an event to remember. Judy exudes the touch professionalism that I rarely, if ever, encounter. You would be remiss in not at least calling Judy to find out for yourself.
