We are an Award Winning Full-Service Photography Studio serving Sarasota, Manatee, and Charlotte counties on the West Coast of Florida. Centrally located "on the Island" in downtown Venice, we have just celebrated our 20th year in business.
Our Mission is twofold: first, to provide you with the finest photography available and secondly, to accomplish that goal in the most gracious manner possible.
We specialize in photographing families and their celebrations. Family portraiture includes weddings – with a combination of both traditonal Photojournalistic styles.
Our portrait photography is created by highly respected photographer, Kate Hill-Moore. Kate would tell you that she’s been photographing for approximately a million years, but that might be a slight exaggeration! The truth of the matter is that she has had lots of experience photographing everything from the smallest destination weddings and family portrait sessions to the most elaborate and formal of events. Kate has the perception to analyze both people and situations and therefore the ability to create the very best images for her clients. She can be contemporary, creative, funky, fun and full of energy or, traditional, reserved, classical, or all of the above! She loves to get to know her clients so that she can be sure to understand exactly what is needed in any given situation.
Working with Kate is office manager, Melisa Whitehead. Melisa, with her delightful personality, and her experience, creativity, and organizational skills is the perfect compliment to be assured that your images are even better than you ever imagined. Melisa is a remarkably skilled album designer and an oh so competent person to follow through on your requests – whether it be an online order or a consultation in the studio. Whatever is appropriate, Melisa and Kate are there to be certain your experience with Island Photographics is completed in the very best way imaginable.

Do you offer special techniques such as hand-coloring or toning? We offer all the wonders of the modern digital age, as well as the perfection of beautiful black & white and incredibly creative sytle and design.
Do you have experience shooting in various lighting situations? Having been in business for 20 years we have experianced all the "excitment" of Florida weather as well as the beauty and the romance of gorgeous church lighting and the ambiance of receptions.
Is your media preference film or digital? Digital
How many photographers do you work with? 2 or more depending on the requirements of the situation
Do you guarantee your presence at the actual event? As much as one can gurantee anything in life YES
Do you sometimes book yourself for more than one wedding in a day? Weekend? No
Do you have a replacement photographer in case you become unavailable on the wedding day? Yes we have experianced photographers available in case of emergencies
Do you bring back-up equipment to the event in case of malfunction? Redundancy of systems is very important there for we have backup of everything including photographers
Do you charge hourly or full day? Pricing depends on the requirements of the event
Do you charge for travel? In a 75 miles radius of the studio NO
How soon after the event are the proofs ready for viewing? Usually within 2-3 weeks
In what format are the initial proofs offered? We offer digital portfolio for the bride and groom to view all of the edited images, websites may be available for guests to view, that choice would be up to the bride and groom
How long can the couple keep the proofs? Lifetime, they are yours to enjoy
Do you reserve the right to publish the photos? With permission
Do you provide the digital files and/or negatives (or copies of the negatives) to the couple? in most cases they are available after a year
