Hudson River Photography was one of the best photography experiences we could have asked for on our wedding day. Diane was extremely organized, thoughtful, and enjoyable to work with. She spent time with us to plan how we wanted the wedding day to look, and preparing her for any special moments we wanted her to capture. We felt really good about deciding to work with her, knowing that we would have photos that looked beautiful and reflected us as a couple. We had a large wedding, with bridal party and family as well, and she kept us on time and got all the shots we wanted. She also prioritized taking natural-looking shots from our wedding day, that captured special moments without taking too much time posing from our day. We received our photos about 3 weeks after our wedding, and we were so happy with them. She is a real professional and an artist, and so knowledgeable, communicative, and thorough. If we had to do it all over again, we would choose to work with her again in a heartbeat.

Our priority was to find a professional close, friendly, and with whom we felt at home. Diane's skill and versatility were especially valuable in our case because we had to switch our wedding plan to a small, socially distanced celebration after COVID-19 hit. We could not have been happier we chose Diane as our wedding photographer. Her work is beautiful but also authentic — no cheesy, prom-style style images here. She captured our day perfectly, and she was somehow everywhere without us even noticing her once the party got going. Even more impressive, she had a preview set of images to us within days, and the full set in a matter of weeks.

I gave Diane five stars flexibility — but I wouldn't necessarily call her flexible. She's a real pro, and she knows exactly what she's doing and how to do it well. She was totally accommodating, but also she made sure that she got what she needed from us. She was exactly as flexible and inflexible as she had to be in order to do her job well.

Our Catskills wedding was perfect, but, as city people, we also realized that lot of vendors worked on what we termed "upstate time." Calls weren't always returned, follow ups didn't always arrive. Except with Diane. You'll wish everyone you work with is as organized, responsive, and competent as Diane. She's the best.

If a picture is worth a 1000 words, than we have 1 million wonderful words from our wedding, thanks to Diane! We had such a terrific experience working with Diane from the very beginning. While we didn’t do an engagement shoot to “practice” for the big day, Diane spoke with us multiple times on the phone to get to know us better and to answer all of our questions - we felt so confident and comfortable that she would be the perfect fit for us. We found Diane through the recommendation of The Garrison, and through friends whose photos of hers we saw and loved - this made her an easy choice. Diane and her assistant for our wedding, John, knew exactly how to handle our bridal party and families, and were great at giving us all direction in order to get the perfect shots. We were so thrilled to see our highlight slideshow and even more overwhelmed by the incredible online album we received with the whole day’s images. Each and every photo was edited to perfection, and so creative. We’re looking forward to picking out our shots for the final album - but we know it will be so hard to narrow down to our favorites! Hudson River Photographer was the perfect addition to our almost all women vendor team.
We were initially attracted to the style of Hudson River Photographer. Then we were captivated more by the diversity of couples in Diane’s body of work. Then, when we met Diane, the deal was sealed. We knew we wanted her to capture our day. She not only captured our energy and vibe, but most of all, I swear you can feel love when you look at our photos. We have all the usual photos you want of your wedding but we also have all the photos of the the sweet moments, photos of our loved ones coming down the aisle looking like celebrities, folks on the dance floor looking like they are living their best lives and our pups watching their pawrents during the ceremony. Diane captured a photo of our niece admiring herself in a mirror. That’s the kind of eye and photographer who’s photos we will cherish for our lifetime.
Our magical outdoors first look was thwarted by 40 mph winds and rain but no problem for Hudson River Photographer. She found a spot inside that worked perfectly. When Diane said to me ‘Katie, this looks like a Vermeer painting’ I swear I almost lost it with pure joy.
When we were wrangling our wedding parties and family Diane stood in the mud for 30 minutes while she got the perfect shots. She kept everyone on task and was time efficient which was greatly appreciated. I also appreciate the feedback and coaching Diane provided to make sure we looked our best. She wasn’t shy to tell me to lower my head when I thought I looked like a model but looked insane.
The integrity, professionalism and pure artistry Diane and her team poses was exceptional. Absolutely worth the investment. The only negative is I can’t possibly choose a limited number of photos for our album!

Diane did an AMAZING job photographing our wedding. She was able to capture the love and energy we felt the night of our wedding in every single picture. Diane’s kind and easy nature made photographing the day simple. When going through the photographs, my husband and I had difficulty selecting our favorites for the album because they were all so incredible. Diane seamlessly blended into the crowd at our wedding and by doing so she was able to capture the most incredible moments. The preview video she then creates with the photos brought us to tears! We have watched it over and over and over again! Her work is incredible! We also were lucky enough to use Diane for our engagement photos. She met us and instantly chose the most perfect location for the photographs. Diane is the best and we HIGHLY recommend her to capture not only the photographs for your wedding but also the emotions behind them.

Diane is a total pro and a joy to work with. As a lesbian couple, we were looking for either a lesbian photographer or a photographer who’d shot lesbian weddings in which both brides were wearing dresses. (We weren’t interested in being put in butch-femme poses that mimic heterosexual couples’ traditional wedding shots.) With DIane, we got both. She was truly everything we were looking for—and she defied expectations.

What stood out to us in Diane’s portfolio were her candid photos—the way she captured the emotion and feeling of an event with a still image. When we look back on our photos, we can hear the music and laughter and feel the warmth and joy of the day. Diane really did an incredible job.

The day of the wedding, we were off to a bit of a late start with figuring out a two-bride first look, but Diane got everything back on track. She moved quickly and gave good direction, without being too demanding. She was assertive, but also managed to make the experience feel laid back. We were truly grateful for our moments with her away from the crowd that day. She made us laugh and helped us take a breath. But during the ceremony and reception, we barely remember seeing her, which is exactly what a good photographer does.

Diane was also very accomodating. We have large families and wanted to do family portraits before the ceremony. Though she was initially worried about time constraints, Diane killed it. She commanded a group of 60+ people, and got every photo we asked for... and in record time. She was also willing to work with one of our mother’s, who wanted table photos. And even though it wasn’t what we hired Diane for—and it’s an outdated wedding photography practice, anyway—she did her best to get them.

Also, we highly suggest doing an engagement session. Doing that months before the wedding helped us get comfortable with Diane and with being in some intimate/awkward poses in front of a camera. By the time it came to our wedding day, we were pros—whispering “look at each other,” “look away,” “look in the distance,” “heads together,” etc. to each other, which made our portrait sessions move quickly. We couldn’t have been so prepared without Diane’s guidance at the engagement session. Also, she was willing to reschedule that shoot for us multiple times when the weather wasn’t on our side, even though she had to come from Rhinebeck to New York City for it.

We’d said if we liked two of our engagement photos, we’d be happy. We ended up “favoriting” dozens. We were blown away by how much Diane captured us, without making us look skinnier or more flawless. It was us, but the best version of us—and we were overjoyed.

The short of it is, Diane is a dream to work with and the results took our breath away. At the end of the day, you only have the memories and photos from your wedding to look back on, and they’re in the best hands with Diane. Whether you’re a gay, lesbian, straight, bisexual, or trans couple, you want her to capture your big day. We couldn’t recommend her enough.

It's difficult to put into words the immense gratitude we have for Diane. As a gay male couple, we'd had some disappointing conversations, feeling like anything from just another job, to a portfolio novelty. When we found Diane, she made clear that her only point of view and priority was to capture the beauty and truth of our day.

Meeting Diane for the first time in Rhinebeck, she immediately put us at ease. We could brainstorm and discuss, but also felt comfortable leaving some decisions in her hands, and trusting that she would guide us in the right direction. Diane conveyed a respect for our day; we weren't just another client, she understood the importance of the moment we were asking her to capture for us. All of the preparation beforehand was guided, measured, and manageable, and one of the least stressful parts of planning our wedding.

The day of our wedding, Diane and her team were a dream. She guided us through the traditional shots she knew our families would want, but gave us freedom to capture moments that were unique to us. And during the wedding and reception, she was a photographic ninja! Almost invisible to our guests, but she captured the biggest and smallest moments. The moment during our dance when my mother said the most touching thing and I broke down, Diane captured it. The moment my husband and I arrived on the dance floor and the entire room erupted, Diane captured it. While everyone was dancing and my husband's parents were off to the side, admiring the family photos we'd put out, Diane captured it.

We now have a set of photos that aren't just posed portraits, but they truly tell the story of the most important day of our lives. We are eternally grateful to Diane, and couldn't recommend her highly enough.
