we did not have our reception at this hotel, so can't speak to that, but I strongly recommend against using it as your wedding hotel. we originally picked it because of the reasonable room price and inexpensive shuttle they offered to our wedding venue. the rooms are old and need renovation, but clean enough, the front desk staff was pleasant and mostly helpful, and they give free cookies, but we had several very poor experiences.
1. the wedding coordinator and other staff were difficult to work with, unresponsive, and very inflexible with plans.
2. as I mentioned, they offer an inexpensive small shuttle to your venue. however, we asked (and paid) to have 2 trips each direction to supplement another shuttle. on the way to the wedding, everything was fine. however, on the way home, the shuttle never came back for the second trip (even after being asked specifically to return by my brother), stranding me and my new husband, as well as our wedding party, at our venue. during repeated calls to the hotel, we were told the shuttle was on its way. it never showed up. in the end, a friend had to come drive people back. my brother spoke to a manager that evening, who admitted the mistake and assured us we'd get a refund for the shuttle. after a month of repeated phone calls, we finally got a very small refund (smaller than we were promised) but didn't want to fight any more.
3. they required our guests (without our knowledge) to sign a waiver saying they would not have parties in the room. I think this is tacky and impolite.
4. we got married over Mother's Day weekend, but we had been told that the brunch room would be available for our guests if they wanted. as it turns out, reservations were required since it was a holiday and they had not warned us about any events. this wasn't a problem, since none of us wanted to give them any more business, anyway.
there are other hotels in the immediate area; I recommend checking them out.
