Originally opened in 1917, the Fort Shelby represented the exuberance and optimism that fueled Detroit’s rise in the early 20^th century. The hotel quickly became one of Detroit’s top luxury hotels and was expanded in 1927 with the addition of a 22-story tower designed by famed Detroit architect Albert Kahn in the Beaux-Arts style. Named after a revolutionary war era fort that was located near the site, the Fort Shelby was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

The Hotel has two breath-taking ballrooms that can accommodate up to 200 guests as well as additional meeting rooms that can hold showers; rehearsal dinners and family get together.
