Originally opened in 1917, the Fort Shelby represented the exuberance and optimism that fueled Detroit’s rise in the early 20^th century. The hotel quickly became one of Detroit’s top luxury hotels and was expanded in 1927 with the addition of a 22-story tower designed by famed Detroit architect Albert Kahn in the Beaux-Arts style. Named after a revolutionary war era fort that was located near the site, the Fort Shelby was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

The Hotel has two breath-taking ballrooms that can accommodate up to 200 guests as well as additional meeting rooms that can hold showers; rehearsal dinners and family get together. Our professional food and beverage team is ready to impress you with a wide variety of savory and spectacular culinary talent as well as guest services. 

We will have all inclusive packages that will include Chair Covers and Sashes even Parking for all your guests. If you book your wedding by December 31^st, 2008 for any date in 2009 or 2010, you will receive a late night snack that can be added to your Reception and a gift amenity for your Parents and soon to be In-Laws.
