  Hidden Gem in Downtown Detroit

  We didn't realize this was a wedding venue and once we did, we were extremely happy to have everything in one spot! We did our rehearsal, ceremony, cocktail hour and reception at this one venue and many of our guests stayed the night in their beautiful oversized rooms. The venue coordinators, especially Heather Hischke, Catering Sales Manager, were patient with us, met with us as many times as we needed and extremely helpful in making our day awesome. I would recommend this venue a million times to anyone looking for a medium sized location for up to 190 people (as they have two rooms that could accommodate).
  I cannot thank them enough for being so detailed, attentive, informative, accommodating and willingness to make it as affordable as possible.

  These guys are absolute lifesavers!

  We had a hiccup with our original venue, which left me in a panic and convinced I didn't have a venue 5 months out. Exacerbating this is that we're an international couple, with an incredibly international guest list.
  
  I took a chance and contacted the Double Tree.
  
  Heather and her team seriously came through. They met with me THAT DAY, and were all set to sign a contract with me to get everything going as smoothly as possible.
  
  My original venue ended up coming through, but I cannot possibly recommend DoubleTree enough. Heather is so sweet, and so on top of everything. The place is gorgeous, and I'm sure if you choose it for your wedding, you and your guests will be well taken care of.

  Great venue

  The DoubleTree was so great to work with. We had our Hindu ceremony here, which required a few unusual aspects (an open flame, etc.). The DoubleTree staff was very accommodating in regard to our needs, communicated with our priest and vendors, and pointed us in the right direction for a food vendor. They were very aware of our timeline and were quick to set up and keep things seamless when our food arrived late, and it ended up going unnoticed. Throughout the planning process they were very responsive to answer email and phone call questions, which is a huge bonus for anyone with lots of questions.

  Great Experience

  First, the check in process for all the guests was excellent, and accommodating to all their needs. We were able to access the event room early on Saturday to start the decoration process. When we came back from the church the room looked amazing and everything was in place for the reception. All the staff that was assisting during the event went above and beyond to make this night special. Our guests had nothing but good things to say. The bride and groom could not have been happier with the way everything turned out.

  Heather and the entire team at the DoubleTree went above and beyond to make our wedding day perfection. All of my e-mails were responded to in a timely manner and Heather was always available to answer my list of questions. I highly recommend booking an event with the DoubleTree and I plan on returning to stay in one of the beautiful suites just because!

  Heather was amazing to work with. She made sure that we were on top of the planning stages to make sure everything we as smoothly as possible. To have her as responsive as she was in the months prior to and even the day of was a relief in my stresses. The venue was perfect and they were even able to provide shuttle service to my guests at the nearby church after it started to rain. The food was delicious and everyone enjoyed themselves. I'd highly recommend this location.

  We had our wedding here on New Year's Eve 2016 and we couldn't be happier with everything. All the people that worked at the hotel were fantastic, and the wedding went off without a hitch. The room is beautiful, and the food was wonderful. I'm not just saying that either, it was a high end restaurant quality filet, and numerous guests told us how impressed they were with the food. Heather was great too work with and the bartenders they had were great. Overall it was a truly great experience and I would highly recommend the Fort Shelby Double Tree to anybody looking for a great venue.

  As a wedding planner, I know the importance of working with professional and knowledgeable staff. The Doubletree provided that and more. The wait staff captain and the sales manager were very flexible and understanding to my client needs. Can not wait to work with them again in the future.

  If you are looking for a venue to have your event the Double Tree is the place to go. The Event Planner was Fantastic! The food was very good the guess was very surprised.

She was patient with my indecisiveness and lack of knowledge and went the extra mile to help me see the bigger picture of my wedding day. I felt special and like I was the only bride she cared about, unlike other vendors I talked to. They will go out of the way to make your day what you want, you just need to tell them what your dreaming of. At the end of the day, they want you to have the wedding of your dreams and I urge brides to check this place out for your wedding.

  We had the wonderful experience to have the Fort Shelby Detroit Doubletree as our ceremony and reception venue. We have nothing but stellar things to say about this location. We used their Terrace Ballroom for the ceremony and the gorgeous Crystal Ballroom for the reception. The Terrace is a blank enough canvass that you can dress it up to your tastes and really add drama- we didn't have to move furniture or take down decorations, which was a relief. And it fit all our family and friends with ease! With some chair covers and decorations no one would have guessed it was a meeting room by day. The Crystal Ballroom is stunning and has beautiful architecture, chandeliers and windows. It will take your breath away when you walk in and it only gets better when you add your own touches, although you don't even have to for it to be impressive! We had a little over 100 people and it was roomy enough for a set up of 10 people per table with a full dance floor, gift table, cake and dessert table, DJ set up, photo booth, etc. And the catering is to DIE for. It has been 4 months since my wedding and I am still hearing how great our entrees were. We were blown away at our tasting by the classic and creative food options and they were only better the night of the wedding. A few of our guests tried to get recipes! What a compliment to hear we didn't have another "dull chicken entree" wedding like others. And, of course, the fact that our guests got great room rates helped! This Doubletree is all suites and our guests loved that they could simply take an elevator to the ceremony/reception and not have to worry about parking or driving home after drinks. The Fort Shelby Doubletree was simply a fantastic venue for us and our guests- I would recommend it to any couple that is looking for a flexible, affordable and dramatic location that is convenient for their guests. :)

  The staff there were amazing. Dee Cody was full of inspiration and great customer service. Sheand the staff there really made us feel like the red carpet was out just for us from our first visit to the hotel, to convincing my dad to book it, up to the very moment we checked out, the morning after our wedding!

  The Doubletree Fort Shelby is an absolutely wonderful reception venue. We had several guests in from out of town and they got to stay at a very nice hotel for a very reasonable rate. The wedding package includes wonderful food, an open bar, valet parking for all of your guests, and a free hotel stay for the bride and groom. The banquet staff was wonderful and the banquet manager Dee was great!
