The Della Terra Mountain Chateau in Estes Park, Colorado is a unique addition to the many mountain wedding venues in Colorado. Though they just opened their doors in June 2009, the artfull planning and earth concious development of the property has established the Chateau as a must have wedding venue. Della Terra prides themselves on how they were able to preserve most all natural elements during construction. This dedication shines through in the overall experience at Della Terra. The romantic old world stone Chateau is perched alongside granite cliffs and pines that peer over the western continental divide.

As photographers, we never grow tired of the endless opportunites for unique photos both inside and out at Della Terra. The bride will enjoy a dedicated salon upstairs for her and bridesmaids to get hair and make up done. The luxury suties are tastefully decorated and offer ample light for portraits. The groom will have a chance to get ready and relax with his groomsmen in the theater room downstairs. The lodge room has a three-sided fireplace and waterfall that makes for a great spot for candid shots with the bridal party.

The ceremony location is a short walk from the Chateau. Guests are seated in an amphitheater that offer great views of the ceremony and surroundings. The processional is most dramatic as the bride is escorted from the Chateau over a bridge. Photographers will love the time given to capture this unique part of a ceremony at the Chateau. The wedding party stands under two giant pine trees that frame the meadows and mountains in the distance. Because this setting is very open, we are especially conscious of noise during the ceremony as we try to be as discreet as possible.

Photographers are offered many settings for pictures with the couple and bridal party. The meadow behind the ceremony has sweeping views of the mountains towering over the property. To the west of the ceremony are more wooded grounds for additional portraits. Rivers, ponds and bridges follow the path back to the Chateau.

The reception hall known as the Celebration Place can accomodate up to 200 seated guests. The vaulted wood ceilings are draped with chandeliers and teardrop lights that warm the large space. The floor to ceiling windows look out onto the land below and flood the room with beautiful afternoon light. The hall is a great alternative for a ceremony during winter months that may make outdoor ceremonies unlikely. A balcony overlooks the hall and makes for a great spot for the bride to throw her bouqet into the crowd of awaiting girls below. This is also where the cake cutting usually takes place. It offers a great views of cake smashed faces for everyone below.

Della Terra also has accomodations for guests in one of their 14 luxury suites or 9 mountain cabins. Couples looking for a true Colorado Rocky Mountain experience will no doubt find the Chateau as a perfect setting for their wedding.
